  1. Another great video, John. To build on your cellar defender paradigm, I'm finding many less-renowned Pomerols that deliver excellent quality for the price, and that offer great enjoyment after only a few years in the bottle. Château Taillefer is a great example. Of course, I'll still spring for Clinet when my wife isn't checking my credit card receipts.

  2. I love how my cellar defenders are 14€ (roughly the same in usd) and my higher end stuff is around 50-60 😅😂 Oh well… Maybe one day…

  3. $70 is pushing it a bit for a cellar defender in my opinion, but of course wine budgets vary. For that reason, I appreciate that the video addresses a range of price points. Also nice to see at least one white wine in the mix.

  4. Perfect list for those of us that don't have a cellar! Wines that are made to drink, my favorite kind

  5. Great choices! I’m excited to try the Zind-Humbrecht. I have not explored Rieslings yet and this one seems like a good one to try to see if I like Riesling. Also, I got your book last week. Excellent!

  6. The 2022 Chateau Dalem (Fronsac) at $29 is such a dream. I enjoyed it more than the 2018 and 2019 vintages which were also stellar. I saw there was a change in the wine making helm in 2020. For me that change was an improvement on an already great consistent producer.

  7. Hola John ! so we are celebrating Fathers Day today and yesterday went with my family to our fav steakhouse here. We had a couple of filets, bone marrow, and some grilled vegetables. We washed it down with a fantastic Chateau Pavie 2005 that was singing! So today we are celebrating Fathers Day AGAIN and went to our fav butchers shop and bought 2 waygu ribeyes and 1 NY strip. I will grill them along with some corn. The problem now is ….what wine ??? I am looking and looking and everything looks sooo good !

  8. Recently found your channel and really appreciate that you cover underrated and affordable wineries. I am about to buy my first dream wine (Sassicaia) and hoping ill have the perseverance and cellar defenders to let it bottle age appropriately! It'll be my most expensive wine purchase to date. Its a shame Guidalberto is also quite pricey now

  9. Nice list. We always have the Merlots from Pride and Paloma in our cellar. It's what I open when we have rack of lamb, consistently good.

  10. 100% agree on Griffons (vs. Tourelles), much more Pauillac-style, and one of the very few second wines I considered both good and well-priced.

Also, I like the concept, "Cellar Defenders". Could well steal it, find a translation in French and run videos like this for my own channel (crediting you, of course).

    Cheers!

  11. I´d love to buy your Napa book? Do you ship to Sweden? I´ll gladly send you a paypal wire (incl. shipping). How do we do that? can I get in touch via email, whatsapp or some other way?

  12. Always look forward to your cellar defender videos!
I’m looking to grab a few Les Griffon, What recent vintages should I concentrate on? Also, can I enjoy them now with a decant or should I age them for a few years?
    Thanks 🍷

  13. Finding exceptional value between $20-$50 from different regions is the ultimate sweet spot. Thank you for sharing your valuable expertise and these great recommendations! Cheers, John!🍷✨
