Just moved into a 1 bedroom + 1 den house but we really prioritized having a guest space/living room and so we made the den into the bedroom. It is pretty small but ultimately, everything we need is here (bed and armoire). The problem is the door behind the headboard. I hate it!!! Does anyone have advice for how you would cover it? We are not willing to downsize the bed since it is already a double/full and a twin is too small for my partner and I to share (we already did that for a few years before moving here). We also cannot rotate the bed (headboard under the window) otherwise the door to the room does not close and the armoire does not fit. So really I would appreciate any ideas to cover the door behind the headboard (leads to the bathroom but we dont need to use this door since we can also enter the bathroom through the living room). Bonus if anyone can think of a way to fit in some sort of bedside table/foldable table, but im not too pressed on that one.

Tldr: tips to hide the door behind the headboard? Cannot relocate, rotate, or downsize the bed. THANKS!!!

Maybe a curtain or tapestry to cover the door?

What if you switched the bed and the cabinet? So the cabinet is in front of the door and the bed is on the wall the cabinet is now? You’d have to walk around the end of the bed to get to your clothes but then you’d be blocking the door totally and could hide the top with the stuff you have on top already.

Alternatively, l like the idea of a curtain along the whole wall covering the door.

Honestly, I would keep this a den and move the bed into a bedroom. This is just untenable for me personally. YMMV!

  4. Maybe consider buying/building a murphy bed against the opposite wall and close it up during the day.

Would you feel better about the door if the bed were rotated 180 degrees to the headboard is on the other wall?

I think along with covering the door you should rotate the bed so your feet are closer than your head/ headboard to the bathroom.

I would heavily prefer to be able to see that door at the foot of the bed while in it rather than having it look directly behind my bed.

Why not hang curtains, the way you have them now, but have them on both walls, extending over the left hand edge of the door? It would make a cute little alcove. If you or you know someone that sews you would have a wide selection of fabrics to choose from.
