With help from this sub I decided I was going to do an accent wall with a greenish color called ash grey in the living room. However, after reading some more about accent walls and learning they are considered more dated, I decided I’d just go all in and paint the whole living room, especially since I do like the paint color. As far as layout goes, I have a blue couch facing the wall opposite to the stairs, where the tv is.

However, with the kitchen in the adjacent room, and with stairs in the back of the room, I’m not sure which walls should actually be painted even if I go beyond an accent wall. Should I paint all the all aside from the stairs and the wall leading into the kitchen? Should I paint the ceiling? Should I paint inside that square cutout that leads into the kitchen?

Right now all walls are the same off white color since they painted right before I closed on the house. The pictures I’m showing are from when the house was listed, but I’ve moved in various living room furniture, and I’d like to get it painted before I do too much to the room and it’s harder to clear out.

I’d love to hear any and all thoughts you have!

Paint the ceiling and get same color for the trim. Since there’s so many surfaces keeping evetything monochromatic looks chic. I HATE white doors, trim, and ceiling. It looks so choppy and white is so lifeless. Also most white paint for trim will yelliw over time if it’s not exposed to natural light.
