1959 Maison Leroy Grands Echezeaux

It’s well documented that I think many old wines are just old. This one was incredibly fresh. If someone told me it

were an 09, I wouldn’t have been shocked. Incredible nose with ripe black cherries, damp forest floor and morel mushrooms, with an expansive palate with lovely elegant texture, supple and filigreed tannic structure and crisp acidity with a never ending finish. Fantastic wine, probably just on the downslope, but still remarkably fresh at age 66.
