Wine: Bila-Haut Cotes du Roussillon Villages 2024.
Winery: M. Chapoutier.
Appellation: Cotes du Roussillon.
Country: France.
Grape(s): Unknown.
Aging: Unknown.
Alc by Vol: 13.5%.
Color: Dark fuchsia core, and fuchsia edges.
Aromas: Berries, clove, sulfites.
Attack: Medium acidity, smooth, well balanced.
Mid-Palate: Medium texture, fruity, overwhelming sulfites.
Finish: Medium length, very low tannin.
Cost: €9.96/750 ml, “en copa de balon” store.

Overall: It is a rather mediocre wine, where the Roussillion AOC character shows through the spicy/clove/ginger notes. However, it displays a very strong tartness in the mid-palate, which, in my experience, usually correlates to excessive amounts of sulfites. Such decreases over the next 3-4 days. Yet, an unforgivable flaw, particularly when carrying the M. Chapoutier name. I will not buy again.
