Late one night in Naples, 1889, a royal craving changed the world. Queen Margherita was tired of French gourmet and wanted the food of the people. Local pizzaiolo Raffaele Esposito was summoned, and he crafted a masterpiece inspired by the Italian flag: red tomatoes, white mozzarella, and green basil. One bite, and the Queen was hooked. What was once humble street food for the poor became the dish of royalty. Today, whether it’s a thin Neapolitan crust or a cheesy New York slice, every bite is a piece of history.
