French Onion Soup 🧅✨
Cozy, rich, and deeply comforting — this classic French onion soup is everything you need for a perfect evening 🤍
Ingredients:
• 4 large onions, thinly sliced
• 2 tbsp butter
• 1 tbsp olive oil
• 1 tsp sugar
• 1 liter beef/chicken broth
• 100 ml dry white wine (optional)
• 1 baguette, sliced
• 150 g grated Gruyère cheese
• Salt & pepper to taste
Instructions:
1. Melt butter with olive oil in a large pot. Add onions and cook on low heat for 25–30 minutes, stirring often, until deeply caramelized 🤎
2. Sprinkle sugar and cook for 2 more minutes.
3. Pour in wine (if using) and let it simmer for 3–5 minutes.
4. Add broth, season with salt & pepper, and simmer for 15–20 minutes.
5. Toast baguette slices until golden 🥖
6. Ladle soup into oven-safe bowls, top with toasted bread and lots of cheese 🧀
7. Broil until cheese is melted, bubbly, and slightly golden
