I've provided two photos with the overhead light out cuz that's how it normally is but doesn't show great detail for all angles, so the rest of the photos have the ceiling light on.

  1. I tried every possible arrangement of our bed and that big ass wardrobe, the current locations were the best possible options. It's just an awkwardly sized bedroom. The small hallway is mainly what makes it awkward.

  2. We are working on replacing all switches and outlets with black. Already did it in my living room, and I love the contrast.

  3. I just finished putting those shelves up today and don't have much to put on them yet. I'm open to ideas!

  4. I know the shoe rack has got to go. It's very cluttered. But I'm not sure what to put in its place yet. Shoes would end up in the closets.

  5. The wardrobe is too big. I will replace it eventually. Im not sure I even need a whole ass wardrobe, there's not much in it. I'm thinking just a stand for my geckos cage would suffice, and anything that's in the wardrobe can be stored in whatever I put under the TV.

  6. The lamp… my current side table lamp is too big for the table, and I want something that POPs. I absolutely love that mushroom lamp. I'm just concerned it would clash instead of being a pop of color.

Note: I don't like picture-perfect magazine homes. I want decent composition, functionality, and cozy. I like that my home looks lived in. I like my decorations to be limited to things that really bring me joy, like my alien head planter♡ and possibly that overpriced lamp, haha!

I know there are other areas of just general design improvements that I can probably add to my to do list. My budget, energy, and abilities are limited, but hell man, let me hear yalls suggestions!

  1. Something that strikes me is that you have too many different neutrals – black hardware, grey wood shelves/mirror, white on the trim and the plant pots, beige on your rug, and a couple different wood tones on your furniture. I would say to pick one wood tone + 2 more neutrals.

As for your colors, I think you have one too many colors. I see that you have red-orange (?) on the floor, green curtains, and blue walls and accents. Imo, it would be better to just pick two colors. For each of the two, it would look nice to use darker or lighter shades, and brighter or more muted varieties – but still, just two colors. Given your curtains and the mushroom lamp, maybe red-orange and green are the best choices? A different paint color (in green or one of your neutrals) would look so nice.
