Châteauneuf-du-Pape is one of the most famous wine regions in the southern Rhône Valley, known for producing powerful, full-bodied red blends led by Grenache.
The wines often show ripe red and dark fruit, spice, garrigue, and a distinctive warmth from the region’s sun-drenched climate. Its vineyards are marked by large rounded stones, or galets roulés, which absorb heat during the day and release it at night, helping ripen the grapes.
The region also has one of the most flexible blending rules in France, allowing up to 13 grape varieties to be used.
