The backcountry “hut” experience in the French alpes is very different from Canada. The huts provide bedding, gourmet food,water, electricity, booze, and real coffee. All you need to carry is your “meat sack” (sleep sheet), clothes, and credit card (about $ 100 cdn per day). The best thing is to join up several huts and make a multi-day traverse.
