Huge reserves of wine in Europe.
A few will survive.I'v Bern dribling Italijan whites for 2 EUR,that are worth 15-20$ in US
They stil can't sell.
Good review. Try the Cote du Rhone Village for an outrageous value. The Brunello and Chianti Classico Gran Seccione are worth getting, not as big as usual but great QPR and decent representaion of the wine.
Dont mean to be a snob but a great Gigondas runs between 60 and 80 and i rather have great one than a 14 okay one because in my humble opinion life is short.I also think your being generous giving it an 89 .( i gave it an 86)
I've had all of these, they represent good value, IMO. I am a huge fan of the Gigondas.
However, I maintain that the best Kirkland wine dollar for dollar is the NZ Sauvignon Blanc (yes, I get that this is not included here) and has been for some years. It should be about 7 bucks no matter where you live and it punches WAY above its weight.
The Gigondas could use 5 more years cellaring, still too young, it's OK, but will become better with age.
Your Coravin cartridge refill bill must be enormous.
Glad to see you using the Coravin. It has totally changed the way my wife and I drink wine.
Also, I discovered I’ve been pronouncing “Gigondas” wrong all these years.
How about trying some Sam’s Club? Members Mark.
I'm enough of a wine maven to get myself into trouble, and I'm a Costco junkie because I trust them. While alcohol laws vary from State to State, Costco comes through with returns if you aren't happy. They may not be able to do that with alcohol, but the trust spills over. Generally speaking, I'm less than impressed with the Kirkland wines. Many of their California wines are made by Gallo, and while drinkable, I find that same wine with the Gallo Family label (the company's mid range brew) tend to be better. Not great, just better. I've had the Kirkland Rioja, and honestly, I wouldn't serve it to company, but I'd have no problem cooking with it. Same with their Chardonnay; drinkable, forgettable, and great for cooking. You are about to hurt my wallet; I'm going for the Paulliac! Very good presentation.
Foreign wines are dumped on America driving local grape growers and small wineries out of business. BUY AMERICAN!!!!!
Thanks for the review. My wife and I actually really loved the Barolo (for the price)) and went back to get more. Unfortunately it sold out; low volume like you mentioned. We also have the Chianti Classico Gran Seccione and are Sangiovese fans so we are looking forward to that one. We'll have to give the Pauillac a try too!
If you like Cab or Bordeaux, try the Noble Vines 337 Cabernet Sauvignon.
This makes me go to Costco and try them all. It’s 10pm so I’ll go tomorrow

I just tried this yesterday (Pauillac) and it was very good. Everyone loved it at dinner with Korean BBQ.
Always love your Kirkland reviews!
Kirkland Signature Pauillac (2023)
The overall winner. Features classic Bordeaux notes of purple/black cherry, tobacco, and cassis. Horkey was impressed by its structure and nuance, noting it outperforms many California Cabernets at this price. $19.99. 92 pts.
Kirkland Signature Gigondas (2023)
A "crowd-pleaser" with stewed cherry, floral, and peppery notes. While it lacks the richness of a top-tier Gigondas (drinking more like a high-quality Côtes du Rhône Villages), it is a fantastic value for house parties and burgers. $14.99. 89 pts.
Kirkland Signature Barolo (2021)
A decent red wine with cranberry and earthy tones, but Horkey found it less concentrated and "chiseled" than expected for a Barolo. He describes it as more similar to a Langhe Nebbiolo. $24.99. 87 pts.
I have never tried a Costco wine but will try the Pauillac, thanks!!
The KS CdRV at $7.99 is a big winner.
I found the Pauillac at Costco a few months back. Matthew is spot on. I was shocked at the bang for the $19.99 buck. Nice nose, some layers and beats the competition at this price point. Too bad I didn't buy a case. Its gone now!
The Pauillac is definitely a winner. I'm headed to Costco tomorrow to pick up some more if they're still available.
I love your Kirkland wine videos. Thanks.
Try the beer… wow… it is good too
I have not tried these Kirkland wines, but I thought the Malbec was solid (especially for $8!). A lot of folks are fans of the CdR but I was not impressed by the bottle I tried which was a 2024 vintage. I thought their Russian River Valley Pinot Noir was so-so — although I'm not big into most Cali Pinots anyway. I'm definitely hoping to try more of their collection – particularly the Pauillac and Margaux, Rioja, Saint-Emilion, Brunello and Willamette Pinot if I can find these near me. I think there are some good values to be had on the white wine side as well — I thought the Ti Point Sauv B was really solid, and Sonoma County Chard was decent too. Was not a fan of the Champagne — I'd rather pay a few bucks more for a nice grower Champ personally
Need to work on the pronunciations of those French wines.
Give the 2023 Kirkland Napa Valley Cabernet a try. I’d love to hear your thoughts on it—I've heard it’s a total steal and tastes way more expensive than it actually is.
Good assessment of these wines, however I wished you took the time to pronounce the correct French name of these wines.Gigondas and Pauillac are very famous wines and you should respect their names as every wine expert should .
Do European wines have the Sulfates or preservatives like unfortunately, the U.S. wines have. I am looking at more European wines and Organic wines. I thought that European wines were more towards Organic and definitely without the Sulfates….. Correct or no???
I like the Kirkland Chianti Classico Gran Selezione. What are your thoughts?
I went to a high-end "vintage wine store" here in Harrisonburg, Virginia, and was very disappointed in their "vintage wines". I will stick with Costco wines and the other wines.
