  1. I can't help but roll my eyes at Joe's conversation of BG3 vs Atlus with the characters able to die being important to being interested by them, after… you know, seeing his BG3 playthrough. Pretty sure he bitched about that games options while playing it as well.

  2. I appreciate Joe's opinion towards gaps in the plot. Some of these chatters are obviously not afraid of showing their hate for the plot, however. Which is fine, but jeez. Like it's not THAT bad lol.

  3. Wait a minute, how many people stopped at 90%? Like 50% of the story happens at the last 10% of the game lol
(my main reason i was surprised at the best narrative win)

  4. Joe trying Old School Runescape would be funny. It might hit the number go up idle game itch he has. But the backseating would go crazy because of how confusing and poorly explained it is lol.

  5. During the Joanna section in my playthrough I just kept repeated "SHE MURDERED CHILDRENN" like I was stuck on repeat, glad to see Joe almost had a similar crashout. Its just awfully done

  6. Finding out today that this part of the game was divisive because I actually really liked it LMAO. I guess I just resonate with the Heismay stuff a lot, and I really like the contrast between he and Joanna and how it plays on the themes of oppression present throughout the game as a whole. I also just didn’t mind Joanna being treated the way she was by the main cast, maybe I was just able to sympathize more with the idea that she’d basically entered psychosis after losing her child in such an unjust way, so I wasn’t judging the actions as harshly. The stuff after actually was stupid though, I think I just mentally wasn’t checked in or something because I didn’t remember it being like that at all.

  7. Honestly the only real plot issue is how quicky Joanna went 180 from bad to good (but we have also just deleted her sole reason for bad behavior). Joe arguing "they should've killed Joanna on the spot" is a terrible take sorry, even in real world there would be a trial. She said she would confess, you could argue it would be dumb to trust her but she is a public figure, its not like she could just flee and hide since everyone knows her. Besides, Bardon is there to keep an eye on her, he would not forgive her or let her flee anyways.

  8. Yeahhh sorry I can't watch this, the constant bashing and criticizing in chat is really getting to me, "best narrative btw" idk why but that sentence irk me so much. I'd still prefer ppl spamming Ws that this holy

I may be misremembering but doesn't the game actually try to explain her murderous episode away as an effect of melancholia? Or at least indirectly they do when they explain what melancholia is near the end of the game? Doesn't make this dialogue any less ass; I just love it when Joe crashouts accidentally predict the story.

  10. 39:13 Oh god, same. The Zero Time Dilemma vods got me through the worst moments in my life a few years ago. Really thankful for them still, Joe's ironically a good comfort streamer

  11. If i can be so real, I think some of you guys are failing to realize that chat is almost always hyperbolic for comedic effect / a bit. It is like this with pretty much EVERY game. You by no means have to like that that type of humor, and you can find it annoying / obnoxious… but please bro…. me and my 2k fellow chatters who spend 20 hours of week hate watching Metaphor? And me and my fellow chatters who hate watched the entirety of E33? and Baldur's Gate 3? And Kingdom Come Deliverance? Etc? Etc? Come on bro….

  12. sigh All I'll say is that I enjoyed the conclusion with Joanna, and that the contrivance didn't bother me. Perhaps because I'm good a separating the game's Persona structure from the general story scenes to just enjoy it for the wacky, over-the-top and over-dramatic scene dressing that it just strikes me as entertaining and a decent way to move the story along while attempting to tug at a few heart strings along the way.

Edit: Furthering the discussion that people keep throwing around toward the latter half of the vod… The "not that kind of story" defense I don't really understand, however I will say that Joe wondering why characters act certain ways, put off certain plot elements until critical moments, or just never discuss the plot outside of plot centric scenes…again, I feel it's just a victim of the game's structure. It sucks to say that with more work, written dialogue, and conditional interactions (based on where in the main plot the player is at) it could've been rectified but that's the honest truth. Everything seeming disconnected and characters not acting right from one scene to the next is brought on by this, and it's also why plot decisions like having to just take Joanna at her word and staying in the town until the deadline is as awkward as it is in the plot, all of the games are guilty of this where you just have to wait for characters to do what should've been done immediately following the last major story beat. Like…imagine if Joanna was in the gauntlet runner…in a makeshift prison cell and in addition to your daily Persona grind you got more scenes of talking to Joanna when you bring her food and the like. Would it have been awkward? Yeah, but it would've been more natural than just having to trust a serial child murderer/kidnapper at their word and just hope she follows through. Now just imagine that one scenario, multiply it across every major plot beat and then have to design/program contingencies for everything the player can do at any given time when interacting with the Persona Pals/Metaphor Mates. The consequences of keeping everything separate are that a lot of the plot has to happen around the Scooby
Gang without much discussion outside of the initial incidents. If there's ever a day where they could get a system like that working in one of these games then…cool, awesome… However, I enjoyed Metaphor for it being an enjoyable ride throughout, layered with creativity in it's setting and presentation, with enough gameplay depth for SMT-heads to get a kick out of, and above all else…the word i would use to describe it is: 'earnest'. It's confident in what it is, and (to me at least) remains fun throughout…in both story and gameplay.

  13. I actually quite like this games story and yeah the Martira section is ass lmao. Not a single thing about the section makes sense from the reason they go there to the motivations of the villain to what happens after it’s all just absurd, dumb and contrived and is only slightly saved by Heismay being probably one of the better party members in this game. I quite like what happens in the rest of the story till the 90% cliff moment so hope Joe is able to enjoy it as well.

  14. I remember this arc being better, maybe I just forgot its issues and I was just biased by my love of the boss's design. I appreciate watching Joe play a game I've played and I realize along with him "Wait a minute… this sucks ass". It makes consequent playthroughs more fun. I recently replayed P3R and I fucking die every time Fuuka has a dialogue line of just saying someone's name.

  15. I don't know what kinda brainrot this is but I swear Gallica sometimes talks like that TV commercial from Persona 3.

  16. This was a hard watch for me because i resonate too much with the game despite all the "oh you just forgive x and y?" issues with the writing.
It's not even exactly just because of Joe expressing his personal point of view, but the sheer volume of chatters that immediately agrees with "TRUE" or "BASED" that made me concerned about what kind of views this space holds and if it's a space comfortable for me anymore. Like there's no backlash and idk if mods had anything to do with it.

Among other moments in the vod like "dont feed the paripus dont trust him" becoming a common joke in chat which triggers a bunch of "ethnic stereotyping coded as a a joke" memories for me,
as a citizen of an oppresive third world country i can't agree with Grius' actions being labeled stupid because if that were the case then all revolutionaries with families are stupid, and revolutions would never get done. It's very jordan petersonesque "household before social issues" schtick that completely foregoes understanding of systemic issues.

Maybe if i'd lived and grown up in a first world developed country i would've had the same views as joe or chat. Idk.

  17. The Social links in Metaphor are better by the sole virtue we don't need to collect points to not "waste time" and they rank up always as well as only being 8 ranks.

  18. This part of the story didn't really even register as bad but that's mostly because I played some jrpgs with truly DOGSHIT story a couple years before. Speaking of, Joe should play Tales of Arise. And SMTV.

  19. I don’t know if it’s my own meekness or naivety, but the Johanna and Heismay part hit me really hard – both during my playthrough and when I watched VODs. But both times, after the fact, I got this “post-clarity” about how stupid the plot actually was. I dropped the game two sections later (during the Scooby Gang’s Tropical Adventures), because it felt like the main plot kept rehearsing the same lines and ideas over and over. It became really dull when everything turned into the same blatant repetition of “Racism – bad, Rich – bad, Corruption – bad.” without introducing extra complexity and without leaning on the same dichotomy.
But really enjoying Joe's perspective and ability to "end walkthrought" with such

  20. is kidnapping and murdering children really that bad? i mean, it's just a few kids eaten by a demon
