Thanks for watching!
Love and God Bless,
Mary ❤
I have loved sardines since trying them in girl scouts back in the late 1960s. I have only eaten them on crackers. Nothing mixed in. I don't care for lemon on fish, not sure what else to use. I have never had zippers but I love smoked fish
I just turned 60 & decided to add fish to my diet regularly. Great timing! Thank you.
I spent my childhood eating sardines. My mums go to for a quick meal after school was to open up a can of sardines that were in a tomatoe sauce, mash it up in a bowl, spoon over toast and pat down before grilling again to get it nice and bubbly hot. She might or might not add some grated cheese to melt under the grill with it. Loved it.
Thanks for this recipe, Mary. My dad was Norwegian and we grew up eating King Oscar sardines plain on a saltine cracker or dark pumpernickel. I tried this recipe of yours the first time I heard about it and found it delicious! Since then it's been added to our standard list of fish snack options – it's been a pleasant little change from our normal plain sardine routine! LOL. Thank you for bringing us so many great ideas with such sweet wholesomeness.❤
Hi Mary, this is off topic with what you're talking about, but I was wondering if there is a safe baking powder that you could recommend. Thanks! I love being one of your members ❤
Hi Mary! I washed most of this video (I skipped the salmon section since I'm allergic to salmon) and I came back to give an observation: the fish bone broth seems to be fat free. I mean, there is no need to separate any fat. Wow, and so healthy too. Thanks.
I’m so glad you have this show HGTV is a clown station now.
Wow, Mary, that is a lot of information you shared with us. I will have to look at some other stores that sell fish bones. Thank you so much for all the information. 💖💖💖
we cant be friends if you dislike sardines! i throw oil away put lemon.. lots eat it and your skin changes in 2 days. im savage i can eat it from tin and crakers i never prep them i love the skin and bones. mary you are savage to eat raw onions (i knew someone ate sandwich onions) thanks for this recipe Mary 🎉
I just made your sardine recipe. Verdict? Really delicious. It's a lot coming from me who doesn't like sardines on their own. I love red onions too but always cooked. I didn't think I'd like it raw in this recipe but I was very pleasantly surprised. Thank you so much for sharing 😊
I have eaten sardines since I was a child and I’m 72 now! I love the Mediterranean style best!
Very hilarious! Just getting ready to start a 3 day sardine fast! Since we both live in the Hill Country and most likely shop at the same brand stores I can find what you showcased. I have most of what you have. Just trying Polar and it really is good, but pricy. Please say a prayer for me starting on this fast…by the 3rd day I can't stand the smell of sardines! For those of us who don't eat any carbs, what is a good substitute for breadcrumbs for salmon patties? I
I grew up entirely ignorant of the entire concept of fish on Friday! In high school I embarrassed myself with the lack of concept in my repertoire. However, I think expanding the horizons and broadening the scope of things we eat is always good. Diversity in food is a good thing. We don’t know all the nutrients and how much we need-we often update the standards when we think we learned something-but we never know it all. A wise person realizes that. The body can function at high levels when we give it a broad array of nutrients and don’t limit the things to a handful of foods. It’s wise to seek out the diversity. Mono topping is not a thing in the wild. Just because we don’t fully understand the specific differences in greens or fish or other foods doesn’t mean there isn’t any. Diversity opens a world of possibilities for health. Because your body is able to use nutrients in a vast array of ways and functions and the variety gives you options you wouldn’t have otherwise. The body can adapt to a lot, and essentially makes choices for what is best under the circumstances. We typically fail to understand the value of micronutrients and variety in our diets because we adapt to the bare minimum. But if you don’t box your system into a corner with restrictions all the time, it gives you options you didn’t know existed. Your body can function around obstacles that used to make you sick or struggle-because it has something in its pantry that it can use to make whatever it needs happen. I don’t think I’m explaining this well, but giving your body the best variety is often the key to healthy living.
I never found the recipe post. I got frustrated and gave up! Too many other videos choices and cookbooks and I’m not familiar with how to navigate the site.😢
At my home in Oregon I would go down to the fish cleaning station and ask the fisherman for their carcasses. They looked at me like I was crazy. I would normally get bottom fish like red snapper, black, snapper fish like that. Then I would come home and make fish broth and make fish chowder.
Ahhh Mary 🥰 you just made my evening with perfect recipe for sardines dip with crackers ❤❤❤. This simple little dish is soooo pack of flavors and soooo delicious. Thank you so much please continue your hard work, I absolutely adore your channel, and you teach me sooo much. Big hugs from snowy Connecticut. Kat ❤
Sardines in mustard . yummy. Also canned and smoked oysters and mussels!
Wow! This is a comprehensive video! I have never eaten sardines and wasn't raised eating much fish at all, but I'm open to some ideas you presented! The sheet pan salmon looks fabulous! I might try that. I also never realized how quick it is to make the fish bone broth & your soups/stews looked delicious!
I appreciate learning all your tips along the way, such as the use of ghee, Thank you Mary! You're like a dearly loved Professor❤❤
❤ thank you so much I will definitely try this recipe ❤
It’s amazing, Mary, how you cover every single detail. You answer every doubt or question that pops into my mind while I’m watching—almost instantly. So thoughtful and helpful.
Mmmm sardines! 😊 I do love fish but still don’t eat enough. Much love from the UK and have a blessed Lent! ❤
Mary, I'm 72 and grew up eating sardines, straight from the can with crackers. Having recipes is a wonderful change. I also love anchovies and canned salmon. Because my extended family likes salmon patties, I've always used a can of mackerel to each can of salmon. It's a cheaper way to extend the price of the meal. I always keep a large supply of bone broth to cook rice in, and for potatoes, as I share with my daughter and son-in-law. I must confess, I never saw fish broth. Thank you for sharing your sources, and for this entire video.
I really love Salmon and Steelhead Trout, we have a manmade lake here that stocks/hatches rainbow trout as well. I love it baked with a brushing of citrus juice, soy sauce, honey, chili powder and smoked paprika.. so yummy… We also use canned salmon to make Salmon Soup with butter, sauteed onion and parsley, milk salt and pepper so easy, if you want it to be more hearty add some potatoes or rice. We like to eat it with crackers and a nice cheddar or colby.
I live crunching up sardines but never knew could easily eat the salmon bones! Thanks Mary for the salmon cake recipe. I happily eat canned salmon but it’s nice to find way to make it look more attractive
My grandmother used to joke that onion was the first food I ate as a baby. 😂 When I was a kid, my uncle joked that he had planted an extra row of onions in my grandmother's garden just for me. 😂
I just made this recipe and its truly fantastic. I added pickled jalapeños and it was perfect. Don't hesitate to try it.
I have never had sardines. I love fish. I plan to try the recipe.
Hi mary, i was wondering if you have ever made a comparison of kim chi and sour kraut or other fermented foods? Kimchi seems to be the superior choice.
Mary, the amount of effort you put into to these videos is amazing. I so appreciate you.
I add jalapeño peppers and celery to it. My Mexican friend taught me this use of sardines.😊
I make Salmon noodle romanoff with canned salmon, to die for.
Mary, I have waited years to try sardines. Now i can move forward with it. 😂
Mary …the statue behind you…on the left. is it saint Anne with the blessed mother as a child ? I’ve noticed it before but was never sure 🙏 I see st Francis and the blessed mother on the right ❤
Thank you for these recipes! They are a must try! I will be using riced cauliflower instead of actual rice, since I do low carb I especially love sardines in mustard sauce, with crackers. Delicious! Greetings from central Florida.
Thank you for the fumet tutorial, Mary! Tried it many years ago. Not only did it not turn out tasty, but also it stunk up the house. Glad you shared so I'll try again. 💚
Thank you, Mary. I love sardines and I know how good❤❤❤
I learn so much from your videos. TY so much for making them available.
