These letters were never meant to be read.
Would you have opened them?
Those letters were interesting. Writing letters is nearly a lost artform now that we have other modern forms of communication. Thank you for sharing them with us. See you next video 😃.
Edd, Anna, I love the history in the letters that were in the home, what a treasure that fell from the ceiling
Imagine that these letters are so old yet we can still read them and feel sympathy for these people who love each other in difficult circumstances. I’m not sure if much of what we send will be found in the future. It’s always nice to write the ones you love 💕
Thanks for sharing this. Very interesting.
Interesting you may be able to find his descendants who may be interested in the letters
Sounds like it was as hard to segue back into civilians life then as it is now. Very interesting! Thank you!!
Very interesting! I noticed how lovely the penmanship was. The language was so elegant back then, no slang or vulgarity. I can hardly read my son’s handwriting and he is almost 39. This was the only way people could communicate and it took so long for delivery.
That was so interesting! Loved the video! ❤
So happy to see you and loved this video
The letters are fascinating. Thank you for sharing.
how interesting and aI has it's uses when used for such things
Very interesting!
One of my fav vlogs yet! I love historical stuff!!
ED & ANNA: What was the full name of "Arie" and the correct spelling? There is a chance more can be learned of him.
Fascinating!
That was a nice change! I always love to put people behind places. 😊

👋👍❤️
What a wonderful turn of phase and elegance in that love letter. Although a little later they have that Jane Austin feel 😀
If the bastide has an historical society, they may take and preserve these. Otherwise, a related university?
What interesting letters! I can imagine family finding them intriguing too. My mum’s father died when she was a baby. When her mother died, she found love letters her parents wrote to each other over an eight year courtship. It brought her father’s personality to life and she felt like she finally knew the man who was loved by all, by those who had the pleasure of knowing him except her and talked highly of him her whole life! Penmanship in those days was exceptional!
Anna & Edd, what would be really awesome, if you could somehow track down any family members of theirs, GG grand kids or GG nephew/nieces etc etc… as someone from their linage etc would love to have the letters back.🙂 But also somehow photocopy what you have as well… that way the paper of today won't fall apart like the original paper has.🙂.
I find it odd that back in the day compared to now, that people back then wrote letters like poetry rather than the crap we write today.
Case in point, like I’m writing right now 😂
