£1.87 for the fries is decent. I've just got some from heron. I know it gets mentioned when you don't have one to hand. Maybe one day. I paid £2 for them but that's just the price they charge all the time. So £1.87 is good value. I think the idea is they just cook quickly.
For even better results with the fries if they’re frozen soak them in water for 30 minutes before putting them in the air fryer.
Afterwards, drain them and then just pat them down with a bit of kitchen foil .
they are amazingly more fluffy inside..
HELLO STEVE 😆
How many pints as rex had
Id eat these 😊
Steve you brighten my day thank you
Hi Steve , another excellent review here ! I am not a fan of McCains at all ! but those Sausages sound right up my street – I will have to give them a go – Take it easy and have a great evening Mate ! I hope Rex got his Share ! 🙂
I got 4 packs of those sausages at half price are they any good? Think there was a couple of different flavours in the freezer
From AI: You generally should not prick sausages before cooking as it releases flavorful juices and fat, leading to dry, less tasty results; the casing keeps moisture in, and moderate heat prevents bursting, but if you must (e.g., for very fatty types like chorizo), do it late in cooking or use a minimal poke to allow some fat to drain while retaining flavor.
I made something the other day entirely in the microwave and really enjoyed it. I took a really big Corelle bowl and filled it with fresh baby spinach. I sprinkled some garlic powder and salt. I drizzled it with olive oil. I cut a small onion into dice and put it over the spinach, split 2 turkey sausages and put them on top and microwaved it for 7 minutes. Then took a pot of precooked instant yellow rice and microwaved that seperately for 1 minute and dumped that on top.
During world war one and two meat was scarce so butchers added fillers and water to sausages causing them to bang or burst.
Happy to see you've got the 92 beanie hat crew back in the kitchen, biggin up Rex.💯👍💥
Good to see Rex again! The sausages do sound good and I have a very local Lidl, so may task the boss with trying to get some.. The fries looked perfectly cooked to me !
As someone else has said, during WW2 when meat was rationed water was added to bulk up our sausages causing them to explode. That's why we started calling them bangers & why we had to prick them first. My go to frozen fries/chips are still Birds Eye crispy chips, I don't buy any others even if they're on offer because I find myself just wanting to get through them so I can get back to Birds Eye.
I guess you could try apple sauce with them. I usually get Sainsbury's.
Did you see I tried to tag you on CTB vid the other evening, Steve?
I believe that old time Sossages was poked/pricked to stop them from popping when cooking because thay was literally in pig intestines as the skins. Today's date the skin is a fake version but you can still get the old "real" skins from a traditional butcher. 🌭
Idea for your left over role's. A blob of jam and cream in the middle and a drizzle of iceing on the top. Turn them into sweet finger role's. Yum 😋
They looked tasty sausages and you could reheat them in microwave wave next day
no problem reheating your Cooked Cold sausage in microwave (about 1 minute)
Did this combo work well?
Good one Steve.😊
