The first coffee plantation in the Lao P.D.R., Champasak Province.
Around 1920, after failing in the north, at that time French colonialists, imported coffee plants from Viet Nam.
At altitudes between 8- and 1,300 above sea level, these plants flourished in the warmer southern altitudes.
Currently the Bo Laven coffee production stands at 20,000 tons annually of which 5,000 are Arabica (Bourbon and Typica mainly) and the remaining 15,000 Robusta.
Documented in the book: ‘Coffee, ‘Origin Laos” I can’t, unfortunately find any ISBN number on the www.
