When was this? I believe some items on the menu have changed?
while i love your work, i must disagree about Anthology. We ate there on july, 2025 on Explora2. the restaurant is all show and no good food. each course disappointed us to the extent that we left after the first dessert( they told us there were to be three dessert courses) . Save your money and go to Sakura or anywhere else for that matter.
best wishes
So no one tried the vegetarian options?
Did you tip after the meal?
We dined there on Explora 2 in December 2024
The food was good; was it exceptional? I don’t recall any of the dishes. The Spanish sparkling wine served was outstanding but the others were ok. Not a fan of Italian whites. Yes it was worth trying but agree with the above comment that that Sakura was far better. Please note the wine sommelier are paid based on what they are sell; not unique to Explora. I have found the best wine purchases on a cruise are the odd bind wines but be aware that once you purchase a bottle; the wine stewards will always hound throughout the trip to purchase wine.
Hi Alex, I was surprised that you can now get the included wines at Anthology, I will be more likely to try it next time if this is the case. Cheers 🥂 😊
WOW! Everything looked great and you certainly seemed to enjoy that meal!! Very informative video.
We had the Anthology experience on Explora I with the wine paring on our cruise in April 2024. The dinner was exceptional but the wine paring was not to our taste. Some wines paired with the course we choose not to try. No exceptions or substitutions. We are on Explora II in October and had not planned on dining at Anthology due to the wine pairing rules. We will now book Anthology knowing the complementary wines can be ordered. Thank you Alex!
Just want to clarify. I had thought there were no complimentary wines in Anthology? I have reservations for next week, and would much rather not pay for the additional pairings….
When Explora Journeys 1st launched I was excited by the original concept of Anthology which was to have a scaled down version of the menu from a world renown restaurant with a member of the kitchen from that restaurant onboard overseeing the preparation. The restaurant would rotate every few months. This concept didn't last long. It had to be difficult to get restaurants to participate. We are lucky enough to have a few Michelin starred Italian restaurants near us, so I'm less excited by the current concept. Doubt I would pay for it but we will have more than enough onboard credit for our upcoming Explora cruise to cover the cost, so it is still a possibility.
We experienced Anthology recently in November on Explora 1. What a disappointment, the main course was 3 cubes of pure fat called A5 Wagu. Overpriced and truly terrible.
