Which ceramic non-stick pan is the best and longest lasting? I tested 6 of the most popular ceramic non-stick pans on the market: Made In CeramiClad, Caraway, GreenPan Valencia Pro, GreenPan GP5, Our Place Always Pan, and Carote. I cooked with each pan right out of the box. Then, I put them through a series of stress tests to simulate months of use in just a few days. After that, I cooked the same foods again to see how the wear and tear impacted each pan. The results were surprising. Some pans aced the tests, some performed okay, and others failed miserably. In this comparison, I show you which pans are worth your money and which you should never buy.

  1. Thank you for the rich analysis! I was particularly curious about any toxicity issues with the ceramic coating getting scratched? E.g. the thermion coating of Greenspan uses sol-gel process that could potentially have other harmful chemicals – is that right? Much appreciated!

  2. I have had the Our Place and Caraway for 4-5 years – both my Caraways (saucepan and frying pan) warped to the extent they're pretty unusable now. The coating does seem stronger on the Our Place – is that a good thing, not sure.

  3. I have the “our place” pan and I love it. The rim turns so I have never had steam problems. it is expensive but they do go on sale. Handle has never been an issue.

  4. Disappointed you didn't test the Chef's Foundry P600 ceramic cookware which Dr. Fuhrman recommends. Guess I'll have to wait for another video.

  5. I love my GreenPan Valencia Pro set! I've been real world using them for just over a year (stovetop, oven and dishwasher don't judge me) and they are still doing great. My set came with felt separators for storing and they are a gamechanger!!

  6. Better yet learn how to cook and season pans , boil out on the stove for gravy and stop wasting food . Stainless fero is better than nonstick crap.. Stop wasting your money on nonstick junk.

  7. If egg is sticking to your pans you're not cooking at the right temperature or not watching. Learn how to make a cream with eggs and guancaile or bacon or pancetta.. it's a real test of heat control skills. Hang your pans to avoid damage don't," store them . Use stainless graded for induction…in fact buy an induction unit stove . it's cheaper than gas in the long run and much more controllable. .

  8. I wished ceramic pans worked as well as they looked. I had a Wolsted set. Beautiful looking pans. Garbage durability.

  9. Thanks but will stick to my stainless steel pan. Finally figured out how to work with it so food doesn't stick.

  10. The Our Place Always Pro pan now comes in a version that does not have the steam spewing gap. Its the one that now comes with a metal spatula, available on Amazon. Be careful as the other version is still out there.

  11. Ceramic shards can cause bleeds in your digestive tracts. Same for ceramic knives. DO NOT buy them. Ever.

Stainless steel is the safest way… if you buy with a copper inner layer, they cook like a charm. And you can learn how to cook with them easily.

As for eggs: preheat the pan. tiny bit of oil, let the egg cook slowly till it lets go. Done. You don't need special layers…..

  12. I bought the greenpans and after about a year, the nonstick went away and there were scratches on it. switched to cast iron.

  13. I love my Our Place pans. I’ve never had any issues with the handles. My only complaint would be that the lid doesn’t have the option to seal 100%.

  14. This is disappointing to learn about this category of pans. It would be helpful if you added onscreen labels for the pan you are talking about as you are speaking because it would be much easier to keep it straight.

  15. I just use Stainless Steal 3ply and 5 ply. I preheat to 275 degrees. Put a tablespoon of oil and eggs do not stick. I clean my steel after cooking, works like new.

  16. Sorry but I thought we were rating the non-stick properties of these pans. The final conclusions comments seemed to focus other elements than the non stick properties – like the exterior of the pans having scrapes in the finish – who cares – has nothing to do with the cooking experience! A lot of time and effort went into the review, but failed to truly identify the best pan for it's non stick properties.

  17. Interesting and thorough review. But my experiences with ceramic pans was dismal. I followed the instructions — use only silicon or wooden utensils, hand-wash, etc — and they all began to stick within a month. I threw them all out when I made pancakes — I ended up with a stack of mush. I simply went back to Teflon, and follow their directions (don’t overheat, don’t use metal utensils, hand-wash). And they’re just fine. Oh, and I have pet birds in the adjacent room — two of them are over 20 years old.

  18. Just bought a pair of "Granitestone" stainless steel, ceramic non pfas pans based upon based upon You Tuber "Project Farm" review. Project Farm's testing is a little more here and now than "Prudent Reviews" forward thinking stance. Well, I've got a long list of non stick pans that I've thrown away for coating failure so, it won't be anything new.

  19. Great analysis! But I would add the GreenPan Valencia Pro to the never buy column — it's the worst nonstick pan I've ever had. Its nonstick is sticky after just a few uses, and the blue color (pretty at first) comes off all over my porcelain sink. If it comes off the outside on my sink that readily, imagine on the inside when being scraped with a spatula as you are cooking (and into your food). A waste of $100. If I could post photos here I would…

I also note that GreenPan won't let you leave a review on their website more than a couple of months after you buy it. So there are no longer term reviews on there.
