Journey to the Château, Ep. 342 – In this episode, Patrick and Stuart continue work on the bed and breakfast guest suite at the Chateau de Colombe. They make design changes and incorporate some of the ideas that were suggested in the comments by their viewers. They also add some new furniture pieces, and remove others that did not work in the space. They still have one more important decision to make about the headboard, bedside tables, and bed crown combination. Can you help them out? Patrick and Stuart also meet up with friends Tony and Jane to attend a rainy day brocante (flea market) in the town of Dun-sur-Auron, and then stop by a local shop (Huilerie) that produces and sells their own flavored vegetable oils as well as gourmet groceries.

  1. Thank you for a positive reality. From it gets crazy and as worse as One could reckon. From a fan in Colorado..

  2. I love the furniture you’ve chosen. ♥️ I totally agree on not needing to have pieces be from the same period. But you’ve found shapes that are all complimentary, and so they “go together” perfectly. 👍
I love the idea of the gilded bed frame. I agree that the room can handle it, and I like how it opens up the options on coordinating pieces. And, as you said, it marries well with the rest of the room.
Quelles domage, a trip to Paris to shop for fabric. You poor dears, my heart breaks for you! (Who are we kidding; my heart is breaking not to be there with you in person. But I’ll enjoy joining you virtually.)

  3. Team gilding here! I love the idea of the gilded accents on the crown and marquetry bedside cabinets to pull that look throughout the room. You are definitely on the right track with the use of space. Off to Paris you go!

  4. I would gild it as it will be a luxury room with gilding mirror and furniture and so it will blend in better. you know how to do it so I am excited to see it done.❤❤👍👍🍀🍀🍀🍀

  5. Team gild😁. I think it will allow you to create a common theme between the different wooden pieces and mirrors to the bed and canopy. I think paint would create a separation that would feel odd. You can’t have too much gilding, just ask Terry, Ash and Tracey 😊

  6. I love gilding as an option wherever possible. I think it will let the bed fit better with the wood in the other furniture and let the sleeping “suite” look coherent

  7. Doré pour l'encadrement du lit à mon simple avis.🤔. J'aime beaucoup vos meubles et votre respect de ce château de campagne et vous avez raison dans les châteaux les époques sont souvent mélangées et ce qui fait leur charme. 🏰Golden for the bed frame in my humble opinion. 🤔. I really like your furniture and your respect for this country castle, and you are right that in castles, eras are often mixed, which adds to their charm…
