  1. I don't know. If a woman smelled bad, imagine the men. Imagine working with men in construction or on a boat. I bet the body order of a woman would be a breath of fresh air back then. Also, as a man, I can build a tolerance to my bad smell, and if I associate a smell with the body odor of someone I loved or cared about would not be as bad as just stench. Smell is so much more involved than just good vs bad.
