Another gourmet shelf stable food masterpiece from France, and this time the pork tastes like veal and the dessert is absolutely decadent. Make sure to have some snacks ready when watching this because it’s one to behold.

  1. French rations are my favourite. Always a wonderful dish in those big sardine style cans! The puddings are great too. It's a pity they don't come with wine anymore.

  2. pretty sure the extra tissue is for constructing impromptu flags of surrender. the wooden dowel seems to be missing, however. 😂😂😂😂

  3. Fun fact: Companies like Connétable, Hénaff, Andros, Maître Prunille, Voyager, and Raynal et Roquelaure are involved in the production of french military rations, and their expertise likely includes culinary knowledge. Which is why french rations taste so amazing and gourmet.

Another fun fact: A French MRE (RCIR) was typically traded for 5 US MREs. US military rations were so disliked that early on in the Afghanistan war, five MREs were worth one French ration.

  4. French strategy is based on placing the enemy in a situation where they can either keep fighting, or surrender in exchange for a truckload of French MREs.

  5. That can is way too big for that stove, makes it impossible to get even heat, which is why the bottom burned.

Still, it's pretty remarkable that they managed to cram over 1000 calories into this meal without biscuits

  6. Steve you are overdoing a bit. It's regular canned food from civilian staples. Not purpose made for the forces.

  7. Thank you for the amazing content, Steve. Have you thought of putting together a Frankenstein Ration to review? One where you take the best individual MRE components and make the perfect 24-hour ration, based on your own reviews, and then review it? It could be amazing!

  8. Pork? Odd. With the rapid Islamification of France, you'd think serving pork would already be forbidden, as many areas in France with muslim majority populations have already successfully had over a dozen restaurants either shut down, or forced to remove pork from their menus entirely.

  9. freeze dried coffee is a crime against humanity. Theay tortured us with that shit when I served in the army.

  10. My wife managed a store that sold nougat bars and they were wonderful. I haven't seen any in stores in some time but perhaps I can find them online. Consider using half a fuel tablet to keep heat lower to avoid burning your food, or use a whole tablet to boil water first and then heat the entrée over the partially used fuel tab.

  11. I think the mackerel pate is the starter, then have the risotto for the main course followed by chocolate mousse. The nougat and chocolate for snacks on the go. Great to see the French living up to their reputation for top notch scran.
