They came to London to places like Mayfair, Knightsbridge, Chelsea, Fulham, Regent’s Park etc etc. They brought their cuisine, chefs and fine dining culture with them. The British were not that sophisticated at cooking. The meals were simple and plain. They were too busy working. The industrial revolution was underway. This is why you don’t see an English restaurant. You’ll only see cafes serving a greasy breakfast.
You should never eat a burger rare . Basic food safety. All the bacteria that’s on the outside of the beef has been mince everywhere in the burger. They need cooking thoroughly.
