  1. Had a suspicion who this video would be about. I've known a couple people who refuse to touch manga on principle but still willingly read Taniguchi.

  2. I was randomly introduced to his work when they released the summit of the gods animated movie on netflix

Thoughly enjoyed it. The slow pace and the almost meditative approach to scenes pulled me right in

  3. I’m really happy to see your channel updated after a while, and I truly appreciate the deep dive into the works that influenced Taniguchi, from France’s Jean Giraud to Oz.

I’d like to introduce you to a brilliant and somewhat underground Japanese artist named panpanya, who remains relatively unknown even within Japan. Fortunately, some of her works have been translated into English, so I highly recommend checking them out. I promise you won’t regret it. Her stories offer a strange, unforgettable experience where the boundary between fiction and reality becomes beautifully blurred.

  4. Hi Matt, love your channel. I dare you to dip your feet into the history of shoujo manga. Manga geared towards women is sadly not very present on your channel. Btw, any idea why your video on the blind school teacher who invented comics is age restricted? I tried to rewatch it recently and can't anymore, and I'm not about to provide Google with a pic of my ID 😅.

  5. Absolutely the best manga I ever read. There is Croatian edition, so we in Ex Yugoslavia are familiar with Summit of Gods.

  6. People interested in English versions of some of Taniguchi's incidental, older, & untranslated work should search around online for Taniguchi Scanlations.
