How to Make French Onion Smash Burgers
Ingredients
Smash Burgers
8 3.2 oz. Omaha Steaks Smash Burgers, cook from frozen
2 tablespoons olive oil
Kosher salt
8 brioche buns, toasted
16 gruyere cheese slices, semi-melted
Onions
4 medium yellow onions, thinly sliced
4 tablespoons butter
1 tablespoon dried thyme
1 10.5 oz can beef consommé
2 teaspoons Omaha Steaks Private Reserve Seasoning
Instructions
Onions
1. Add butter to cast-iron pan over medium-high heat and add onions once melted. Cook for about 10 minutes, stirring occasionally, until cooked down and caramelized.
2. Add thyme, beef consommé, and seasoning; cook down until liquid has almost evaporated, then set aside.
Smash Burgers
1. Lightly oil a cast-iron, stainless steel, or carbon steel pan or a griddle surface with oil and heat as close to 500 degrees Fahrenheit as possible.
2. Place frozen burgers directly on cooking surface; cook for 3 minutes, then flip and cook for one additional minute. While burgers cook, toast buns.
3. Season with salt, top with caramelized onions, and continue cooking for an additional minute.
4. Place burgers on the toasted buns and top with semi-melted cheese. Serve with Omaha Steaks Gourmet Steakhouse Fries.
