On a recent trip to Mangalore, I came across a burger and fry shop manned by a one-man army on a mission to cook up for this port city, the freshest and honestly-priced burgers, sandwiches and fries. A hotel management professional with a MBA degree and a few years in the hospitality and food service industry under his belt, Raveen Keshav Pai wanted to fulfil his dream of opening his own eatery. And so he rented a small shop in the bylanes of Kodialbail, where with a limited budget he opened Agni’s Fish, Chicken and Fries. His is a team of one! He shops, cooks, cleans, serves, answers calls, everything that he needs to do to serve up his limited but delicious menu of burgers, sandwiches and some seafood.

Raveen is precise about everything that goes into his items, be it in the produce, seasoning or cooking technique and that certainly shows in the taste of the dishes here. I would happily return for his chicken thigh burger with a coastal touch, and also the calamari rings and chunky, flakey Indian salmon fish fry. Definitely a place to visit for the fare and also to support a deserving small enterprise.

From my very first visit, I developed a great rapport with Mr. Raveen Pai, who's not just a skilled chef but also a wonderful host. The bar-style seating and open kitchen setup add to the charm, allowing for some great conversations while watching him work his magic.

    As beautifully shown in this video, Raveen is a one-man army—handling everything with precision, care, and an impressively systematic approach. While speaking with him, it's always fascinating to learn about how and where he sources his ingredients.   14. It's not an easy to prepare,serve,clean do all these tasks , that's challenging for sure,but good to know that he has started his own enterprise
