  1. awesome gift !!!!! I have done 2 French RCIRs, they are my favorites so far. very unique looking handle on your new knife

  2. As far as the translations, the RCIR I had, had english on the cover. Has that changed?

  3. Hi Nem….Great review and glad you enjoyed it…I think in the reviewing community the French RCIR is seen as a good one….In the ration heater pack you usually find a folding can holder to help with the hot tins….Nicely done!…..ATB…Mick

  4. This looks like a great ration, this is one I am saving my pennies for. Thank you for the awesome review.

  5. Whoa, the biscuits changed. Used to it was only sweet and savory, the chocolates a new addition. Nice.

  6. Hello Nem, thanks for informative review. The French RCIRs are the best. They hold a prominent place in my rations stash. Mick sent me to enjoy your channel. It looks like I will have to bing watch your videos to catch up…

  7. Why does the reviewer pretend she doesn't know what the French labels mean? I can read them and my French classes were FIFTY YEARS AGO!

  8. The French RCIRs are so hooked up…I love all the snack bars, especially the jelly and nougat bars. This whole ration looked awesome, great review! I had to hit you with a sub, can't wait for more reviews!

  9. I loooooove all the bars in the rcir. The jelly bar and nougat are my favorite. I’d buy one for the bars. Great review!

  10. A piece of trivia. The jelly fruit bar was a classic in the 80's to 90's. It was often served to kids who stayed at school after classes as an afternoon snack with a piece of bread and a juice box.
    Edit : it was either a fruit bar, plain chocolate and from time to time condensed milk.

  11. subscribed! Love this channel I've tried Polish, Lithuanian & US MRE's about to try my first 24 hour British one. Love them all. then I have French and Spanish ones to try too. Keep up the good work!

  12. Fyi: the « jelly » (gelée) on the paté is usually infused with cognac (or something like that) to enhance the flavor of the paté.

  13. There’s a little handle in the heater packet to hold the hot tins. You should have used the heater set 😉

  14. Everything is english on the package….. Why a lot of the French MRE reviews doesn't understand that….

  15. My overall impressions after quite a few French MREs down my hatch, the last ones this week:
    1: it does indeed lack an extra sugar and a creamer, that coffee is brutal otherwise;
    2: the less water your pour in your chocolate, the better, it quickly gets watery otherwise, mix it with the coffee and save your day;
    3: the teas are ok I guess, for the Frenchman I am (not so much of a tea drinker then);
    4:The muesli is to die for;
    5: the bars are great but overall there is so much sugar! The nougat isn’t top notch I must say, France must do better for her sons!
    but I can’t get enough of those coffee bars, better than the commando bars that can still be found on older MREs, that were already quite good; there should be two of those but I’d add a salted snack as well, a few peanuts maybe;
    5: the canned terrines are fine but will do better if you get your hand on some FRENCH gherkins, forget your fat pickle, the melted cheese that replaces them sometimes isn’t bad either;
    6: the hot meals are pretty good, very honestly served ;no unnecessary water, salt or fat, as in commercial portions and healthy with only one chemical additive: e330 acidifier, the rest is all natural, a portion (a ration counts two and sells for 10$) like that would cost you at least 7-8$ on the street.
    I find the cassoulet (beans and sausage) to be the best option of those I’ve tried, the risotto this lady has isn’t bad, better than the kebab balls or the paella, for instance.
    The sausage and pasta is ok as well, but god I hate the tuna and potatoes!
    Among the desserts the mont Blanc you see in the vid is among the best things, the dried fruits are of course always ok, special mention to the dates, that was original and welcome, the chocolate cake is very spongy yet very tasty
    It’s like everything, after a week you grow tired of canned foods, even the best ones, and would bite on a carrot straight out of the field.
    So I’d add a dose of Cognac to ease the boredom…
    Wishful thinking…

  16. About the knife, it's not an 'American" knife, it's a Chinese knife, made as cheaply and as flashy as possible (and there are well made Chinese knives, too).

    The reason for the inclusion of English on many rations, including the French rations, is that they are designed to be compliant with NATO regulations. There are a series of regulations that NATO standard rations are required to meet. However, the individual nation can decide what is contained in the ration.
    Each nation tries to provide a complete nutritional ration to allow the solider/sailor/airman to perform to a specific standard and the intent is the soldier/sailor/airman to consume all the contents of the ration in 24 hours.

    As you have seen, each nation has its own view of what should be contained within the ration. Some are just minimalist, and something the person consuming actually might dread the ration, (see the US ration known as the "Vomlet") while others such as the French, Portuguese, Croatian, etc. and other rations are highly sought after and greatly appreciated.

    There are also official 'civilian' rations developed by some nations and the UN that are often complied to be as 'dietarily inoffensive' as possible.
