In this video Dr. Monique Y. Wells gives a presentation on her work about the black geography in Paris, France, with particular focus on the important African American figures who lived and gave a contribution the African diaspora in Paris during the 20th and 21st centuries, with focus on the artist Beauford Delaney and write James Baldwin, Richard Wright, Langston Hughes and Duke Ellington, Sidney Bechet and Ella Fitzgerald.

Her presentation was during the conference as part of the Centre Pompidou exhibition and symposium Paris Noir and artistic circulations of anti-colonial struggle and fight.
The symposium took place at The Museum Du Quai Branly Jacques Chirac, Paris France, 21 March 2025.

Monique Y. Wells is a native of Houston, Texas, Dr. Monique Y. Wells has resided in Paris, France since 1992. She is Founder and CEO of the Wells International Foundation, a U.S. nonprofit organization, and co-owner of Entrée to Black Paris, a French travel service specializing in tours and activities on African diaspora Paris and gourmet Paris. As a visionary, change-maker, and steward of legacy, Dr. Wells has founded two nonprofit organizations. Through her entrepreneurial work as a veterinary pathologist and toxicologist, award-winning travel professional, and writer, speaker, and mentor, she embraces and harnesses the power of education to change lives.
