Day 7 of our Riviera Travel Gastronomy of Switzerland and the Rhine River Cruise was our final full day onboard and we were sailing towards Cologne, Germany. We spent the morning enjoying the ship and the views of the Rhine. We had an afternoon included excursion booked for 3pm to visit the Lindt Chocolate Museum. We walked from the ship and were surprised by the history and origins of chocolate. We got to experience where chocolate comes from and how it is made, and of course we got to sample some too. After the tour we were able to walk to Cologne Cathedral and we were surprised by its size and its beauty. We met up with an organised walking tour and were able to get the bus back to the ship. It was the captains farewell dinner onboard and we also enjoyed some crew events and entertainment. Day 8 was our disembarkation, and we enjoyed exploring cologne before our transfer to the airport.

Although we were invited on by Riviera our thoughts and opinions are our own.

We are Tom and Dom and we experienced our first cruise on the MSC Virtuosa during her UK staycation cruises in 2021.Our mission is provide a fair and balanced review of our travels. We look at the types of food that is available onboard, from main dining rooms, room service, buffets and pool side snacks. We include menus for each of cruises so that we can share the selection of drinks and meals that are available. Entertainment onboard a cruise ship is important to us and we enjoy theatre production shows, live music, quizzes and game shows. We love to explore different ports and destinations and enjoy sharing tips and tricks so that you can make the most of each port. We often explore ports independently but also book excursions that are interesting to us.

  1. After applying to work for Riveria during the interview process basically they said those questionnaires would lead to what work you get as cruise director etc are on a self employed basis as such. So really important

  2. 😂😂who led who astray boys ??? Glad you had a great cruise , so nice to see these cruise boats , only done one on the Duero river in Portugal which was also a great trip from Porto to Salamanca in Spain and back to Porto . Cologne is not a city we would rush back to but the Roman German Museum next to the Cathedral was particularly interesting . Loved your Noddy Train we call them Wally Trollies , we love being a Wally if we have time , it’s good see an overview of where ever we are and see what we want to view more of . Again thanks for your videos . Now to look another one you have done . Cheers

  3. Amazing how easy to get on and off the ship compared to ocean cruises. My partner wants to do a barge and bike cruise. Since I don’t ride a bike would prefer traditional river cruise. Will see what we end up with next year. This year no cruising, land adventures. Thanks for the videos.

  4. I've enjoyed your series on River Cruising. On your final overview you should mention that river cruising costs 3-4 times what an ocean cruise does. Not as many people can afford the prices. I have been on 19 river cruises, 35 ocean cruises, and 8 expedition cruises since 2001. River Cruising has been my favorite but I'm starting to have mobility issue so i now have to stay with ocean cruising. Not a bad travel problem to have.

  5. One of the women you two sat with on this cruise looked like Lois from No Cruise Control. She has a delightful channel. Thank you for this vlog series. I appreciate the time you spend recording, editing and uploading. I know it is not easy. You both are very talented and I am so glad you continue to travel and take us along .

  6. how do you afford all these cruises like.. you must be a millionare or something becuase i cant even afford to go on holiday every year
