  1. I don't understand why the overhead shots are reversed, as if a mirror image. I wouldn't expect an overhead camera to present a mirror image. I find it distracting to see Julia switch between being right-handed and left-handed in the shots. Otherwise, great show.

  2. I tried making hollandaise from scratch jut like this and tasted AWFUL.. so much lemon juice, just made it as sour as can be. I just use the dry sauce packet and make it with milk, and it tastes good.

  3. Absolutely amazing!!! Did anybody know she was in the OSS during WW2??? That surprised me!!! I loved watching her as a child!!

  4. I remember watching all of her shows and loved them from day one. The woman taught me to cook and I've been doing her recipes for decades. Once I sort of mastered her techniques, I could do anything from anyones cookbook because along with her recipes, Julia Child taught you how to cook, not how to follow a recipe. She was one of a kind and a great teacher as well as a top notch chef.

  5. I was once called into the kitchen during brunch and found my host, who was a friend of a friend, in a panic because the hollandaise wasn't thickening. Recalling this episode, I squeezed some lemon juice into a fresh pan and had it saved in under five minutes. This began a wonderful friendship that lasted over thirty years. In teaching me how to cook, Julia enriched my life in so many other areas, and I'm forever grateful.
