🔊🗣️🎶 I’ve always made a joke about #foodies’ obsession with the opinions of a #French tire manufacturer, i.e., the @MichelinGuide, way before it was a joke on “The Bear.” Yes, we all know (or should know) the coveted restaurant authority has humble roots in being a mere road trip restaurant guide whenever you bought a set of tires in France. However, it’s one thing to just know this, but it makes total sense when you’re on the road, driving through little French towns, where you wouldn’t know exactly where to find a good gourmet meal without any guidance. So it was fitting that when we arrived in the little town of #Charolles, we wined and dined at the restaurant of @MaisonDoucetCharolles—which has a coveted one #Michelin star. ⭐️ And before dinner, they toured us around their garden across town, where they grow fresh vegetables and herbs.
Dinner started with amuse-bouches, including a savory mushroom tea, cabbage and cheese tarts, lentils, and pâté. Bread was served with #Frenchbutter and hazelnut oil. Another starter was a delicate slice of #Charolaise #beef, smoked in beechwood right at tableside, and served with mustard ice cream of Edmond Fallot Dijon 🤤. Next a raw trout fillet with nuts, then filets of Charolaise #beef. (Meanwhile, pescatarian @eloiseinparis8 had a fine lobster dish.) Fast forward to dessert, a soufflé with ice cream, and other delicious things to raise my cholesterol before bed. 🙌🏽 — Eating where the tire guy said to, at #MaisonDoucet, #Charolles, #France, along the @ValleDeLaGastronomie. 🇫🇷
