You may have seen ‘orange wine’, ‘skin contact’ or ‘amber wine’ popping up on wine lists, but what does it actually mean? I demystify orange wine and taste a few to let you know what to expect!

A Breakfast 🥞 drink 🍷 💕😬
Indeed, champagne is often made from different combinations of three main grapes. We have the white Chardonnay, of course, and then…Pinot Meunier and Pinot Noir! Unless you have a specifically labeled “Blanc de Blanc” champagne (100% Chardonnay), you’re having usually between 30-40 percent of the wine being made with Meunier and Noir (often Noir making the majority), both dark red grapes. Dom Perignon, for example, usually uses around 40% of Pinot Noir in its blends. And then there are some very rare and expensive champagnes that are made exclusively with the juice of the pressed Noir red grapes, like the famous Clos d’Ambonnay from Krug (one day…😍), although obviously not all champagnes made with Pinot Noir are this expensive. And I have also tasted some wonderful Pinot Meunier champagnes which often offer a wonderful blend of sweetness and gripping acidity at an equally great price due to the low demand for the grape (Flavien Nowack is a well-known “grower” label that likes to experiment with this grape). So yeah, huge variety and lots of fun!!!
Those wines seem as though they might pair well with some pork and lamb dishes.
Thank you for showing these!
Come to Florida, you can get actual orange wine. Or for some reason – orange coffee wine 🤢
Interesting Video, thank you 🙂
One of the best wines I have ever had was a sparkling orange/amber wine from Republic of Georgia.
Tried my first scotch that had an orange wine cask finish. It was really good (Scallywag Winter edition)
I've never tasted an orange wine that's remotely drinkable
Love how the wine market has moved on from snobbery. I remember the outrage when screw tops first came out hahaha. Soooo much to learn in this space in regards
What would be the difference between an orange wine and a rose? all im finding are about the flavours but i mean on the making of the wine. I found about rose being made with red grapes and orange with white ones but i dont know if that makes a lot of sense to me
