The Ultimate Green Bean Casserole | A Holiday Classic Reimagined

Ingredients: (For a Double Recipe of approximately 15-20 servings)
• 6 – 12-ounce cans of your favorite canned green beans
• 2 cans of condensed Cream of Mushroom Soup (Chicken or Cream of Celery Acceptable substitutes)
• 1 cup of heavy whipping cream. ½ cup per can
• 1 Onion julienne cut and caramelized. Add a teaspoon of cooking wine for extra flavor
• 1 – 16-ounce bag of French’s Onion rings (half for the dish, half for the topping)
• 1 – 8-ounce block of Gruyere cheese, shredded
• 1 cup of Panko bread crumbs mixed with 2 tablespoons of melted and unsalted butter
• Salt and pepper to taste
Instructions:
• Drain green beans and place in a mixing bowl
• Add 2 cans of condensed Cream of Mushroom soup or substitute
• Add 1 cup of heavy whipping cream
• Add half the bag of French’s Onion rings
• Thoroughly mix all of the ingredients and set aside
• Cut the onion into Julienne strips. Add butter to a skillet and lightly cook the onions until caramelized about 15-20 minutes. Add a dash of cooking wine for more flavor.
• While onions are cooking shred the Gruyere cheese and set aside
• Grease a 9×13” baking dish. Add a layer of caramelized onions to the bottom of the dish
• Pour all of the green bean mixture on top of the caramelized onions
• Add the remaining caramelized onions to the top of the green beans
• Add most of the Gruyere cheese to the top of the oni0ons. Top with remainder of French’s Onion Rings
• Add buttered Panko and remaining cheese to the top. Spread out evenly
• Bake at 375 degrees for approximately 35 minutes, until the casserole bubbles around the edges
• If the casserole is getting too brown, cover with foil until cooked
• Remove and let cool slightly before serving
