  1. Its to late to cry. You paid too much and you put very high-end items into the structure. Your work is A+. The neighborhood is a C to C+. If you can get a very good tenant with a real job and a good credit score, rent it out and in future time you will have a pot of gold. Remember a bad tenant will bring disaster.

  2. Lots of coats of paints to go. Looking forward to a Christmas reveal. Love your work Holmes family

  3. Now that you are painting the lower beam, I think all the beams need be painted white as well. The property is small, painting all the beams will 'enlarge' the spaces. This will further lighten the rooms.

  4. Edd and Anna it’s such a different house now. So impressive that you saw the diamond in the rough knowing your talent and design skills.

  5. Funnily enough I went to high school with Matt White and Matt Brown and I’d have to agree Matt White was always more popular 😂🍻

  6. You should get the gentleman that Billy Petherick used on The Pethericks for the convent transition..give him a call about your door. He has done 2 or 2 of different Cheateau owners places

  7. Painting the beams might have been the right choice. But, I think a medium to darkish brown might be better. That way the beams are all the same shade, and the contrast will look interesting. Great thing about the white paint, you can still paint over it with the brown.

Yes, it is a shame you could not replace that lower beam. However, don't they say "c'est la vie" in France?

  8. Edd, please don't push yourself too hard. You all need family time during the festive season. I don't want you to be in pain more than normal or get run down and end up sick.
Now, with that being said, my goodness, the flooring and the stone, and the white is stunning. I am sure the front door will turn out fine. Congrats to your friends on the chandelier. I think you got it for an awesome price.
    Best wishes to you all.❤

  10. Growing up there was a painted beam in the living room. My parents decided to take the paint off, hoping it was a nice looking beam. Ended up there was no beam. It was fake. No reason for it to be there other then it did look better with it there. My mom was a very talented artist. Dad put up scaffolding for her and she painted a wooden beam. People would comment about the beautiful wood beam. A few were told the truth. But we did laugh about future owners finding out it’s painted.

  11. Honestly, I don't know why you didn't use a 4" foam roller to paint the beams? I would have been done in half the time it took to brush it.

  12. Your painted beams can have wood grain painted over the white using enamel. paints and thinner. I was taught this technique as a scenery painter.

  13. Sometimes you just have to do what you want and don’t worry about what others think, it’s your choice…. Personally I think it looks quite fine and the house will look beautiful once you guys have completed it ❤

  14. Usually I prefer a darker beam finish, but these beams were all angles . I think they would have been very distracting if dark. This was the better alternative to keep everything feeling airy.

  15. It's beautiful! It will improve the neighborhood! It starts with ONE, and the neighbors will start their renos on their homes LOL!

  16. Yes painting the main big beam in white was a best choice but as I watched you paint the dark beams I was a bit disappointed but seeing the end result showed that the look is in keeping with the modern look and as your hopefully not painting (hopefully) the main character of the original bricks it is still unique – the whole build is unique cheers Debz from Oz
