  1. Her ability to infuse her cultural background with her passion for food is inspiring. To give credit to her paternal grandmother by naming the restaurant Lolas is emblematic of how good this person is. Kudos!

  2. In this video she is interviewing a Chef in NYC, at her Restaurant called LOLA,and when she describes her dishes, there's a lot going on, color and texture, but the combinations, could really get to the point, that it actually gets you LOST,as it may be a bit confusing, but because she is of THAI/FILIPINO, that's a big TWIST,but not really, because both countries are in the PACIFIC OCEAN, like me being from Honolulu Hawaii, but her food can be classified as PAN/ASIAN with a INTERNATIONAL MIXTURE. But now one of the most interesting food trends nowadays is multidimensional, the dishes made, requires a lot of thoughts ,as what NICHE,are they looking for, is the question, 1st you have the GOURMET,then you have the GOURMAND,then you have the EPECURIAR,and finally you have the GLUTTON, those are the four categories of people, as I was taught at CULINARY SCHOOL, some people are educated about food and some really don't care, it's Food, something to put into my GUT. FUNNY BUT TRUE. And I am a type of person that I like to enjoy what I am eating. Whatever it may be.

  3. Most chefs have outsized egos. It is refreshing to hear a chef talking about her team, about how she would like to see them grow, and how by surrounding herself with diverse people their food will never be boring . My destination next time I am in New York!

  4. Great to know a Fil-Am is pushing forward Asian cuisine with a twist! Proud of Chef Suzanne! Watching from 🇵🇭

  5. Very touching tribute to your lola. Brought back memories of my lola too during the war. Hello from California.

  6. Had this as a suggested video after watching The Voice which just crowned its very first Filipino winner. I’m glad that we’re finally seen in the US. Filipinos are very talented, resilient and versatile. Hoping to see more Pinoy Pride. Salamat at mabuhay ang Filipino.

  7. Hmm I have to question.. how is she highlighting her culture when the food shown is closer to other Asian cultures than her own? A take on tikka masala, naan, Korean inspired tartare? Japanese inspired bento box? It seems that the only parts of her background represented in the establishment are the photos of her family on the walls

  8. I love the multidimensional dishes with international flavors from all around. A great chef is able to cook variety of dishes, incorporate the flavors to uniquely fit variety of tastebuds, and also focusing on changes in the culinary scenery. Imagine how uncreative it would be as a chef to just focus on one culture and cook that food everyday.

  9. Speechless…Haven't found someone who is really proud of her heritage…Hail to the Chef…You have made your 'lola' proud and so the rest of her compatriots!

  10. How beautiful that you are honoring your Filipino grandmother whom you never met. As a grandmom and a Filipino, I admire that you show respect for your elders and your culture, Filipino values that need to be embraced by Fil-Ams. Congratulations!

  11. I really seldom comment on posts in YouTube but this vid I can't afford not to give a Kudos. She just showed some tips on the magical secrets of the Fil culinary arts, most of which I got from my Lola too. Mabuhay kapatid! I'll make sure to swing by when I visit my son in New York from Boston.

  12. Takes such pride in her work & heritage !! 🇵🇭 ❤️

the diametric opposite to Shay Mitchell. 🇪🇸 😂
