Ingredients:
Bread slices
Softened butter
Deli ham slices
Eggs
Béchamel sauce
Grated Gruyère cheese

Instructions:
Assemble Croque Madame in an 8 inch square baking pan.
Butter the pan, bottom and sides.
Remove the crust from the bread slices.
Flatten the bread with a rolling pin.
Layer the bread slices in the baking pan, covering bottom and sides. Butter top of bread slices.
Assemble the Croque Madame by starting with a layer of deli ham slices.
Break one egg in each of the four corners atop the ham.
Cover with Béchamel sauce, leaving the eggs exposed.
Top with Gruyere cheese.
Bake at 350 F for 15-18 minutes. This will produce a medium egg. Adjust time for your desired doneness.
