  2. I’m from New England originally but grew up on the west coast – they were SUPER hard to find but we SOMETIMES could find them out west. I literally just bought some on amazon lol

  4. In the Netherlands we used to call these 'n****r kisses' while I was growing up and in 2006 there were people furious about renaming them as just 'kisses'. These were gentler times.

  11. These cookies are also available commercially in Serbia and the rest of west Balkan. They’re called Munchmellow by Jaffa here. They’re basically the same, just with a different name.

  13. I enjoy the irony of "I'm always baking … so I'm not buying store bought cookies to have around for sweets" – while standing in front of 5 boxes of Mallomars. This is literally speaking to me in my native "I both bake and shop at Costco" language, Claire.

  14. as someone from west coast l I only heard of these from Gilmore girls and I have only been able to find in my store the off brand. I haven’t swung to buy them online yet but this might have convinced me this is a need lol

  15. Claire: adds hard-boiled egg yolk to inhibit gluten formation
    Also Claire: uses a mixer with the dry ingredients

    (Note, this seems to be an American thing, I don't know any other chefs or home cooks that try to mix uses a hdn mixer or stand mixer once the flour is added, but it definitely creates more gluten and makes things tougher, I get for massive batches bakeries will do it, but it's better to hand mix things once the flour is added)
