When the American oak came out I purchased it. Similar notes. Little young and was thin. I really didn't like it. It remains full except for my first pour. Could be considered a drain pour.
So I don't know much about this bottle but it might be a blend of high and low rye Jim beam that was re-barreled with a chain of French oak staves. The American oak can be found for $40 and can be used to make a good old fashioned.

I watch reviews just to see if I'm missing something. Early in my bourbon journey, I bought a Gem of Kentucky, and it didn't leave me with much. Seems like the 2xO brand is just reaching. Cheers
Appreciate the review. I haven’t tried this in awhile but I remember liking it. It is thin but expected at 92 prf. I am a French Oak fan so that might be it.
Unfamiliar with this. Probably wouldn't bite if I see it. As far as a French oak whiskey, I'll stick with the MM46 version. Cheers!
A good double oaked bourbon for $50. I like both the American Oak and French Oak, but would not rebuy. 🥃
I believe the rumor is 2XO is using sourced Barton 1792 distillate. 2XO has openly said that they use oak chains to get the double oaked flavor profile.

Wow. I wasn't blown away by this one but I wasn't disappointed like you. I think it is noticeabley better than its American Oak counterpart. However, I have always liked French Oak releases from other distilleries a whole lot (e.g. MM46), so that may be why. The 2XO American Oak was a disappointment for me but I am not mad at this one for around $45.
