Ar Pe Pe helly yeah! It is only 40 euros here, crazy the prices over imports. Either way the more Valtellina in everybody's lives, the better. High end US Chardonnay often has an oxidized/overripe character for me. Hess Persson Estates Panthera Chardonnay from RR valley is the example I refer to. Its a bit of a style imo, I don't get it though. Its not like botritized Chardonnay, E.J Thevenet's Quintane wine from Macon is an excellent example of that. Not for everybody but its iconic in a way, has up to 15% botritis depending on the vintage I believe.
I’m in Avignon right now, sniffing my way around the Cotês-du-rhône AOC. Young, or with age, there are some tasty wines being grown here!

That chardonnay is associated with Greg Brewer from Brewer-Clifton who make rich, 15% ABV pinot noir. so i'd probably never buy it since there's great california chardonnay elsewhere

That Diatom is just beyond disappointing. Especially for the price.
