  1. If you are going to go with vintage food, you need to cover all/most of the ethnic food too. They were around at this time too

  2. I remember watching my Grandpa getting out a meat grinder than clamped onto the counter. He would then grind up any leftover bits of steak or roast along with little gherkin pickles, a chunk of onion, a stalk of celery and a few dollops of Miracle Whip to make his "Roast Beef Salad". Gross…! 🤢

  3. Living in the High Plains Desert, our only fish option was frozen fish sticks and tuna salad, lol. Still is, actually. We still eat green bean casseroles here, but I never had it growing up. Our chili cheese dogs were eaten on plain white bread. I made taco salad as a mom, never had it as a child but I love it. Made a lot of chicken and dumplings for my family, still one of my favorites! Cold meatloaf sandwich on bread is still one of my faves. Pot roast was one of my faves! I still love fried Spam sandwiches or stir fries! Sadly it gags my sister who shops for me, lol. PB&J was a treat as a child. Not grilled, but that sounds delish! Never had a Lunchable in my life, but I have made omelets with home grown tomatoes, fresh dill, and cheese. Loved apple salad, and made tons of macaroni or rice salad in my giant Tupperware bowl, lol. I did make a jello salad with cottage cheese, pineapple, and pecans. I guess the ingredients were very regional. My kids ate Spagettios and I still do now, occasionally. Never made anything with broccoli, as I was married to a cheap jerk, lol. Made lots of Sloppy Joes and the kids and relatives loved them. Thank you for the videos, I enjoy them very much even if I've never had some of them. Still love green chili sandwiches! Cucumber sandwiches were for uppity folks, lol. I enjoy your regional varieties!

  4. I don't know if you're aware that Mutton Stew and Fry Bread is a staple in the Navajo culture. Thought that was worth a mention because I have many family members that are Navajo.

  5. Just looking at your recipe 🤤 makes my taste buds dance with excitement! You should definitely upload this recipe on the Khal international cooking platform tomorrow and make everyone’s taste buds dance too. Mind-blowing! 😍❤😉***************

  6. APPLE AND CHEDDAR USED TO BE EATEN BY WORKERS IN ENGLAND, SP PUTTING THEM IN SANDWICHES MAKES SENSE

  7. We made something similar. My grandmother attached her meat grinder to the counter and ground everything left over in the refrigerator including vegetables. She mixed in beaten egg, dipped them in flour and formed what looked like a hamburger patty, dipping them in flour and cooking them on the stove. She was born and raised in Germany and called them Freckles.

  8. How about a segment on what to do with leftovers? We used to put leftover pot roast meat into tortillas or make “freckle” burgers from everything left over from the refrigerator. Lots of our leftovers went into soup. Since, later we had a cook, we had a lot of international foods. My grandmother & mother were born in Germany and father in Lebanon. Our cooks were always Chinese so we had a lot of interesting leftovers!😂

  9. My favorite Ambrosia was Frozen Waldorf Salad. It was more of a dessert but a favorite that had to be made every single holiday!

  10. I LOVE all your videos! I stalk YouTube for all these “vintage” videos about recipes from the depression and grandma’s recipes. With money constraints and the near future I see coming, I’m arming myself NOW with budget friendly meals.😮😅

  11. This is why that generation will far outlive gen z-ers. A lot can be said about the loss of whole foods to the advertising of gimmicky processed foods.

  12. I miss potroast. Meat is so expensive now that the potroast they showed would be 25.00 on the shelf now. I remember when hamburger helper was a inexpensive option to feed my children, now ground beef is way to pricey.

  13. I love tacos and taco salad. The best is a good burger or Mac and cheese , I suppose that I just love to cook really good food.

  14. Once took my mum sight seeing. While there, she sat by another elderly lady and they compared foods from the depression. This women told my mum that she had to eat fried potato sandwiches. My mum said, "that sounds really good. We had to eat baked bean sandwiches."

  15. My mom used to make tuna and macaroni as a cold salad that I still make today during spring and summer, a depressing thing thought hit me in this video realizing that there are really no hotdog stands anymore.
