American pro eater Randy Santel and @MagicMitch Dombrowski, each versus LaBo’s massive “El Jefe” Gourmet Triple BBQ Pulled Pork Macaroni and Grilled Cheese Sandwich Challenge hosted by LaBo’s Gourmet Grilled Cheese Restaurant in downtown Bryan, Ohio!! After our deep dish pizza challenge at Vizzy’s Pizza Palace in Westland, Michigan, @SteelRodRadim, “Magic” Mitch Dombrowski, @NathanKleinEats, and I all headed southwest to Bryan, Ohio so we could each attempt the giant “El Jefe” Gourmet Triple BBQ Pulled Pork Macaroni and Grilled Cheese Sandwich Challenge w/ fries and a bowl of soup at LaBo’s Gourmet Grilled Cheese Restaurant. Mitch and I went first and we each had just 45 minutes to finish three gourmet grilled cheese sandwiches stacked up and served with a bowl of soup and a 1 pound side of fries. Each grilled cheese sandwich was the same and consisted of LaBo’s BBQ sauced pulled pork, a scoop of homemade creamy macaroni & cheese, and some pickles. There were a few soup options to choose from. Mitch ordered Broccoli Cheddar Soup and I ordered Tomato Bisque plus an optional extra bowl of Lasagna Soup, since I had never heard of or tried it before. We were each trying to finish within the 45 minute time limit, so we could win our $50 sandwich meals free plus spots on LaBo’s Wall of Fame. BIG thanks to Dustin & Crystal the owners, and everyone with LaBo’s Gourmet Grilled Cheese in downtown Bryan, Ohio for the wonderful food, drinks, desserts, and hospitality!! Special thanks also to all our amazing friends who came up that Monday evening to watch and meet us!! Hey everybody! This is Randy Santel, "Atlas" and I am very very excited tonight! I’m going for overall victory number 1254, and it is my very first time. We are here in Bryan, Ohio. We are in downtown Bryan, Ohio. We are at LaBo’s Gourmet Grilled Cheese. We’ve got lots of people here, which is much appreciated!! Whoo!! Yes!! (Crowd clapping and cheering) Mitch, Radim, and I, we all learned today that Bryan, Ohio is actually the home of Etch A Sketch and Dum-Dums, the suckers, and speaking of Dum-Dum. No, I’m just kidding. I am here with Mr. "Magic" Mitch Dombrowski. We are at LaBo’s. We are hoping to become two of the few elite people to dominate LaBo’s "El Jefe" Challenge. Now, I think it’s the only "El Jefe" Challenge that I’ve done before that was not a Mexican food challenge, but I love grilled cheese and I’m excited to hopefully finish everything in just 45 minutes. There’s actually a triple stack. There’s three of the same sandwiches, all with very thick white bread. Each sandwich has a quarter pound of their barbecue pulled pork, which is actually roasted in house. There’s barbecue sauce. There’s a scoop on each sandwich of their homemade macaroni and cheese, which has American cheese, and then there are some healthy pickles. The sandwich is surrounded by one full pound of their fries, and then we each had to go with a bowl of soup. Now, they had four options. We went with three of them. This is actually optional. I’ve never heard of lasagna soup. So, I’ve got an extra lasagna soup there. Mitch went with broccoli cheddar and then I, of course, went with a tomato bisque. So, the other option we did not go with was chicken noodle. I think the soups rotate, but either way, we’ve got 45 minutes to finish everything here. If we fail, it’s going to be $50, but if we do win, we will not get sweet T- shirts. They’re actually working on those still, but we will get our meals for free and we’ll get our names and photos up on the wall of fame, joining a few of our friends. Mitch, are you ready? [Mitch] Absolutely! [Randy] Alright, let’s get this challenge started!! Alright, Mitch and I are hungry, ready to dominate. Our friend Molly Schuyler, she’s got the record which is 4 minutes and six seconds. Our friend Nathan Klein, who I’ve eaten with recently, he’s actually going to be going after us with Radim, but he finished in around 15 minutes, and then our friend Ethan, he finished in around 30 minutes. So, we are not going to try to beat Molly, but hopefully we’ll beat Nathan. Let’s just see how we do. One, two, three, Boom!! Alright, I watched them make these. They look phenomenal. Let’s get it! Oh, wow!! [Mitch] Oh, yeah!! (laughter) [Randy] Mmm. They are still warm too!! Is it Spangler’s, the candy place? [Crowd] Yes. [Randy] Yeah, okay. Thank you. 1906. Does that ring a bell? [Crowd] Correct. [Randy] Yeah, okay. [Randy] Amazing food here, and it is LaBo’s Gourmet Grilled Cheese LaBo is actually the last name of the owners. We’ve got Dustin and his wife Crystal, so big thank you to them and their staff for having us all in to try the challenge, and this is their number one most popular sandwich – the barbecue pulled pork macaroni and cheese, and I know why, because it is freaking delicious!! I love the barbecue sauce they use too. If I didn’t watch Dustin weigh out all these fries, I’d say there’s more than a pound, but there is a pound, and they’re seasoned and yummy. Thank goodness. Mmmm. That is good. At first, I judged him for not getting tomato bisque or (tomato) soup but you really can’t dunk these grilled cheese sandwiches into that. So, him getting broccoli cheddar is all good with me, ‘cuz I’m sure my approval was important to him. [Mitch] So essential. [Randy] And one of the young female chefs, I’m not going to name names, added like a whole jar of pickles to one of our sandwiches. I’m not sure who got it, but all very good. After all that smack talk, I’ve gotta beat Nathan. I don’t know if it’s actually going to happen. We’re five minutes and 55 seconds in now. (Crowd clapping and cheering) Alright, leaving no doubt with the soup. Then I’ll work on my lasagna soup. Mitchell’s almost done with his sandwiches. Very well done. [Mitch] Thank you. [Randy’ He might have more fries down than me too. I need to shut up and eat. I’ve never said that before. [Crowd] It’s the hair. The hair!! [Mitch] Locks of love. Alright, we just hit 10 minutes in. Mitch, Radim, and I, we went to Spangler’s Candy World today in downtown Bryan, very close to where we are now at LaBo’s, but it’s crazy. Since 1906, I guess, Spangler’s has been operating. They invented the Dum-Dum, which I can’t tell you how many hundreds of Dum-Dums I’ve had, as well as other candies. So, great to learn more about the area today. How is it? [Mitch] It’s nice! [Randy] Okay. Alright. Uh yeah, actually, let’s try… let’s let’s try mine too. They thought about making the time limit 30 minutes after a few people won, but it is still 45. [Randy] OOOhhhhh!! Okay. [Mitch] So apparently, it’s been a while since I’ve done the fry ball method, and surprisingly, a lot of females have commented, saying they want to see it. I don’t know why, but… [Randy] They’re very crunchy fries. [Mitch] Yeah, but they love seeing the fry ball method, so here we go ladies. (Crowd clapping and cheering) [Randy] I’m going to lose to Mitch, but that’s okay, because I feel quite bad. That challenge we did together up at Big Ken’s Bar-B-Q. I said yes to adding a little bit more food, which was not a little bit more food, and Mitch got the loss, which was mostly my fault. So, he’s going to beat me today, but that’s alright. 11:50 in. Alright, I had a piece of mac and cheese on the floor, which I asked if it was Velveeta, and they got offended. So, that must mean they take pride in their mac and cheese, which is good. I know Katina is probably jealous that we’re doing this. The question is, will Mitch, will Mitch want dessert? That’s the real question. (crowd clapping) [Randy] Yeahhh!! (clapping) [Mitch] 14 minutes and 13 seconds. Oh my goodness. Those were so delicious! The mac and cheese with the barbecue was real good, and then the pulled pork. You got different flavors that just kind of, one after another, and it was so good. Overall, just a great, fantastic food adventure. [Randy] Well, you can have some of my fries. (laughter) [Randy] It was either bring my spin bike or bring Mitch, and obviously my things are a full cup size bigger. You guys, you guys know that I brought Mitch, but I’ll be doing lots of biking after this trip is over. 16:30. Whoo!! (crowd cheering) We’re done, under 18 minutes. [Randy] AAAAHHHH!!! Had to make sure he wasn’t hiding some food under his plate, but he is cleared. He is all good to go. My finishing time, definitely not the record, but I am still proud of it. I did have the extra lasagna soup, which was fantastic. I’m glad I tried that, but I got all my food down in 17 minutes and 58 seconds. Thank you to our friends Dustin and Crystal, the owners here at LaBo’s Gourmet Grilled Cheese. If you actually live near the area, the restaurant is up for sale. So, I’m glad that we were able to get here because again, like Mitch said, all of that was phenomenal. They serve lots of different burgers. They’ve got plenty of soups. They’ve got lots more grilled cheese sandwiches. They’ve got a whole bunch of other stuff on the menu. So, even if you don’t want to try the delicious and quite big "El Jefe" Challenge here at LaBo’s, get here anyway because they’ve got lots other stuff on the menu, but thanks to Mitch for doing all the challenges with me. Well….about her record..i mean Mollys record…i do understand that it would be hard to beat but….there is a BUT….i dont like the way she eat..let me explaine…she does not chew her food..she just showe it down and it looks painful…not chrwing her food must cause her stomacpain one way ore another..the way in/down and 100% on the way out….bread,chips,meat in big chunks coming out the same way…
