dford is a Scenic Country Town perfect for a day trip from Melbourne I was amazed at how beautiful parts of Dale’s foot can be in this video I’ll take you to 11 the farm and enjoy Gourmet French food made with the best local Australian produce we’ll enjoy a Scenic walk around Lake dalesford and watch until the end for some spectacular Autumn views first stop is the lavendula Swiss Italian Farm located 10 minutes from DW the farm grows lavender and charges $5 per adult to access the entire Farm you can wander the rows of lavender and the Scenic Gardens [Music] at the barn is a gift store where you can find handcrafted aromatherapy products [Music] [Music] if you’re curious about the history of the farm you can join a free tour which is run several times a [Music] day in case you get hungry the restaurant and bar serves Brick Oven pizzas and lavender inspired dishes [Music] alternatively the farm also allows you to bring your own [Music] picnic on a nice day the lawn would be amazing to sit down and relax on we went to look at the Farm’s famous highland cow and emu birds Unfortunately today they decided to sit on the opposite side of the field [Music] I’m not going to lie it was pretty disappointing but there are still 100 acres to [Music] explore the farm is really old some of the farm houses were built in the 1850s [Music] the farm is pet friendly but please remember to bring your leash levendula is only open from Spring to Autumn and closes for their winter break in miday the farm then reopens in September the best month to view the Le is in January during its peak so we will come back then we are now at the boat house restaurant located on the banks of Lake dford the restaurant has an outdoor deck for warmer months and a cozy indoor area for winter both with magnificent water [Music] views the restaurant has modern Australian and French cuisine the chef owner Nixon crossed seasonally inspired menus using locally sourced ingredients we had the Vera duck breast fat chips with black garlic aoli and Bendigo Freer range stuffed chicken [Music] that meal was so satis spying I would go back just for the chips the menu changes so it is already different 2 weeks later the chips are still there though after that Feast we needed to walk off our food coma and across the restaurant was a cute kiosk with coffee and ice cream [Music] Lake dalees foot was constructed in 1927 and was originally used for gold diggings and later as a Chinese market [Music] Garden nowadays the lake is used for recreational activities like walking cycling or fishing the peace mile walk around the lake is a gentle 2.8 km stroll taking about 40 minutes on a compacted gravel and bwalk surface [Music] [Applause] [Music] the relaxing atmosphere around the lake is Indescribable in the evening everything seems to glow like a living painting [Music] the lake is a popular destination but even slightly of the path there are quiet spots that you can have for yourself [Music] we also spotted many of these bright red mushrooms that seen right out of Alice in Wonderland and if you’re not able to visit in Autumn then please enjoy this Autumn evening View [Music] it was such a fulfilling day out I hope you’ll try it soon
