  1. MSG is so important for Asian food.

    I'm a white guy in California USA, and MSG changed everything. It's such an amazing addition to all Asian cooking, hell I even get cheeky and add it to Thai curries!

  2. How can you say Chef makes INSTANT NOODLES Gourmet!! When he DOESN'T use instant noodles but makes noodles, should report this to YouTube for being misleading.

  3. If Ebbers had just handed them some Nongshim Shin Ramyun with fresh vegetables cut into it, it would have been an instant win in my book.

  4. A perfect ramen egg, finely julienned green onions, a few greens, some char siu (not char sui as Ben pronounces it), some pickle element and wood ear mushroom perhaps. Simple, delicious. A spice blend on top of the provided packet as mentioned might be a bit much because those packets do pack a punch if you get a good ramen. But a little extra sesame or tagorashi blend wouldn't hurt. Pay a little more for a better instant ramen and you won't regret it. I mean $2 or $3 more. I know it is a different animal, but you can make a great bowl for say $5 or $6 for two people rather than $1 for a very sad bowl and be left with extra ingredients to make more later. Do not get the generic $1 Western instant cup noodles. Go to an Asian market and be spoiled for choice.

  5. Here's instant Ramen noodles, I'll make a completely different noodle dish instead of making Gourmet Ramen, aka, actual ramen.

  6. Instant noodles are better if you change the order you do things in.
    Cook the plain noodles first.
    Then drain them.
    Then add the flavour packet + mix to coat everything.

    The starch from the wet noodles combines with the seasoning powder to create a sticky coating which isn't diluted by water, so the taste of whatever is in your packet is noticeably stronger.

  7. No lamb? I don't know about elsewhere in the world but I would be surprised if there is a Chinese restaurant in Australia that does not have a version of at least Mongolian Lamb if not others.

  10. OK I am confused about something this is at least the second episode where Ben has talked about how great MSG is. But for all of my adult life I’m 60 I have heard that we need to avoid MSG that is very bad for us. Hence whenever I order Chinese I ask for it without the MSG

  11. works great. i love that it has stainless steal pot inside https://www.youtube.com/post/UgkxG-7WiT7ocumjytOpHDFt632PL0pxXRAg and not the one with coating. we used to have a coated pot before, and the coating slowly peels, and i am sure went into the food that we cooked. Absolutely love stainless steel, and will not use a coated product again.This pot has many settings and many buttons, and i need to sit down with a manual to figure out which setting to use. I used the basic functions, and even though i am not technologically skilled, i turned it on and assembled it without any help.Very satisfied with this product overall.

I’m sorry I know the aim of this series is to turn a basic dish into a high quality dish that reflects the original dish and Ebbers put so much effort and provided a lot of firsthand knowledge into this but you can’t make instant noodles gourmet, that’s the beauty of them 😂😂 it’s literally impossible to take a dish that only needs hot water a high quality dish because instant noodles are specifically intended to be simple and convenient, not filled with fancy expensive ingredients 😂

  16. I have a friend who loves the spice packets from instant noodles. I find them too salty, so if I'm making a huge batch in camp I'll hide a couple spice packets for him.
