Ting girl hey y’all welcome back to inside the barrel I’m dou J I’m Nathan Nate Dog I’m big H Big H and we’re back we’re excited we’re talking about a bottle that big H isn’t familiar with John’s not familiar with but I’ve done a lot of research on it’s Baka hopefully
We’re saying that right it’s it’s Raja bak’s last name he is actually the former owner of Whistle Pig he started Whistle Pig in 08 he he owns this far or owned this Farm um in Vermont and his vision was like oh what can I do I can
Grow some rye and I want to create this high-end whiskey Bland back in 2008 there really wasn’t a market for that um so he he comes out with Whistle Pig everyone’s familiar with Whistle Pig he sells that off after about 10 years of owning about five years ago now um he
Goes and travels the world and he finds himself in France where he buys this like 125y old armanac cks yep so his big thing is going after going after that high-end Market our friend the bourbon Hunter was actually the one that told me this is the newest upand coming the the
Next Whistle Pig basically going after that high-end market so if you’re into other Spirits the araks the concs all that stuff it’s much higher age rated but this is his bourbon instead of putting an age state on there he wants to go with a vintage kind of like they
Do with wine okay so 2013 again he’s just trying to reinvent things in the spirit was Barrel but one it was bottled no it was Barrel in 2009 distilled or in 2013 and then it came out in 2023 so you would call it a 10 year or a 9 and a
Half year but it’s MGP I’m telling you that now it’s their corn mash Bill 99% corn 1% barley so it’s proofed at 100 Proof um right at 100 proof or 100.6 um so it’s not a ride oh what do you think of that glass cork oh I I do
It’s neat it’s not a r it’s it’s a bourbon um it’s not a bourbon it’s a bourbon it is a bb bb yeah um you said that they’re specializing in Ry though what no wh big specializ I think you said high and r on vaka no so this is MGP finished in those
Hundredy old armc cast so I don’t even know what armc armc a wine a French wine but uh I don’t know the dude the the dude is really cool like when you look him up online and some of the interviews and some of the stuff he’s doing he
Actually bought an old college campus like a uh um an old college campus in Vermont and and has made it part of like his spirits Center up there so again 150 bucks so he’s going it’s a big bottle cool bottle I’m the bottle guy so uh you
Already got me there that’s actually how you got me to buy the bottle because I didn’t know anything about the brand um but now I’m like thrilled with the brand what do you guys smell initially what I went I went straight to taste initially it’s got
A harsh doesn’t finish very long at all it’s well I’m at the nose still it’s like an orange apricot lighter maybe even banana what what do you got I got no banana orange we Have No Bananas today I got no banana out of that what do you got on the
Taste what come in the Hun proof it3 i36 yeah .6 okay initially I I I think it’s going to be a bigger bite but then it like yeah right right spoo and again it’s like it’s 99% corn so but it’s finished in like that Age spirit yeah it’s got a
Good it’s got a good taste to it mhm you can taste the Finish yeah but it you’re right it’s a like a medium type finish it’s a lighter lighter it doesn’t even some vanillas some yeah some to T initial taste is really good yeah let’s go to
The rating I’m going to say $150 probably a little bit out of my price range um it’s cool bottle 9 and a half year rating um I might check out some of his other stuff just to see and again I’ll go next because I don’t think I do
As good a job talking about what he’s doing with Spirits as he does he’s really got me intrigued on other Spirits I know we’re a bourbon show but who knows maybe eventually we’ll introduce some of that other stuff this bourbon for $150 it’s tough I it it’d be even
Hard for me to swallow um but it tastes fine it’s good and it’s a cool bottle it looks good on the shelf and it’s a good story but to price it’s tough Point price point for me too I I uh back to Big hes you know there’s a lot more
Bourbons and whiskies out there for 75 80 bucks that I think fits me a lot better um I’m probably 38 only because of price because I think it tastes very good I think it’s it’s uh it’s only price it’s it’s right in that Whistle Pig category
Again for me I think whistle Pig’s very expensive for good whiskey but just the way my palette works like you can get good whiskey for $50 so exactly I think that makes sense no great story check them out try it see what your think bbon Hunter thanks for
The uh thanks for the suggestion yeah go follow the bbon hunter too like subscribe share all that good stuff I keep forgetting that so thanks for bringing that in like subscribe share we need more followers especially on YouTube Big H is working on a LinkedIn page yeah Tik Tok next t
