Welcome back Anna welcome back to bordo life everyone come in but mind the step Anna eded what have you done to the door well you know that it’s no longer the final door it’s only the build door so I just kind of needed to get this step back in so that the um the guy doing the windows and eventually doing

The door frame he can come and measure up so I just cut the bottom off you Cho the door off come in and and we can see what it’s like now inside I’m coming that looks like my size now it’s looking good we’ve got a decision to make on

These steps Anna but we’ll come back to that in a minute a lot of people have been asking what’s this big hole for I think these people that kind of drift in and out of the Vlogs so they kind of watch one and then come back a few later

Basically the reason we’ve got this big hole is because the front door is absolutely massive it’s probably going to be up to about the same height as the original front door and so when the door is opened it’s going to take this space up here and if

You’re coming into a house you don’t want to have to be tiptoeing tiptoeing around the door so imagine this is a big front door so you come in you got enough space to close the door now with this little Landing so we’ve had to come to

Here with the opening but it’s the same as the steps over there I’m keeping the height there so that as you come down the steps you don’t hit your head on the beam here well it’ll be plaster board eventually I’m not stepping on that last one because it’s still a bit

Wet um but yeah that’s why we’ve got this huge opening here that we have to deal with and it’s eating a load of the space upstairs yes there are two sets of stairs here but there’s not a lot we could do about that so basically this would be 15 cm so

A little bit higher up than step and so in turn this step would be a little bit higher up so the actual steps themselves so kind of like would be less kind of steep as such but it’d be a perfect um kind of equally space steps

Rather than having big steps down to a tiny Step at the bottom yeah that sounds good I left it like that because if you wanted to keep it like that it’s no problem if you want to just pop a bit more concrete on we can just pop a bit

More concrete on so I thought well you know what I I’ll get your choice in on that one yeah more concrete sounds good see it sounds much more logical dividing it by four rather than having big steps with a little step at the bottom but to get

That in I had to put the front door step back on and I had to put a pipe in um let’s grab this light and show you we had to do lots of little itty bitty jobs to get those steps in um which incl Ed putting a a pipe from the

Kitchen where the kitchen’s going to be through to this area here um so so this is coming from the kitchen so the other side just in case we’re going to put a return kind of valve on again to stop anything coming back up that way

Just in case but to get that in we had to do this little kind of ledge that the um the guy doing the windows um je he asked me to to put this kind of solid concrete Ledge in so I had to put that in to get that in and uh and

Whilst we were doing this we thought you know what we’ll just get the pipes in um so we’ve got a pipe up into the bathroom there there’s no going back on that now that is definitely a bathroom we got the pipes through there into the other bathroom and hopefully into a toilet

Under the Stairs what are you doing to the PIP head well I didn’t want anybody saying something about a a a an elbow on the pipe that was too big I was just kind of messing around with elbows uh seeing that they fit so I’ve just prepared it

Ready to show you this side so if you can remember I’ve got the throne going here hopefully pipe going across to the other um to the other bathroom still needs a little connector on there just to steady it up just in case anyone was wondering

There is one here I don’t know what that is but yeah okay uh basically it holds your pipes in place so oh okay okay um yeah I was just playing around with uh where’s it gone this one just because I wanted to make sure I could get an elbow

On there but it’s not going to be that elbow it’s going to be a 45° angle and if needs be I’ll have to just chip into that a little bit and we’re going to bring a soil pipe back here around so that when someone set and are you it’s not

Going to have the elevil but yeah the the the the seat we’re I think we’re good for for getting that toilet in there without having to make it a raise throne and now that none of the kind of cage the kind of Woodworks here you can see lots of

Room yeah and and we’ll probably actually be across here a little bit to give us space for a wash basin there yeah and then the door I know some people say that you shouldn’t have it opening inwards but I think it still needs to open inwards otherwise it’s going to get really odd

Over there isn’t it yeah you don’t want the door where I am here in the corridor yeah so yeah the door’s going to open inwards throne’s going to be somewhere here and then uh wash Bas in there Denny’s been as well so we had absolutely loads going on

Let’s show you where dunny is up to so dunny’s been he’s fitted the drain which has stopped a little water issue we had upstairs cuz we had the um the G gutter just overflowing a little bit because we had a a tiny uh down spout just temporary so he’s fitted all of

This and the pipe goes all the way along here this side’s going to get covered so I’ve done it in um in Gray pipe but where we’re actually going to see it I’ve done it in a lovely cream PVC can’t really do much better than that with these walls um and yeah it

Goes kind of tracks all the way around the courtyard so no more like rushing of water from the roof into the courtyard and the timing is perfect because we had so much rain yeah it’s just not stopped has it uh it just keeps coming and coming but that’s fine we’re uh we’re

Working today we’re going to be working inside and uh and all next week we should be working inside I mean it’s going to be a while before we need to get back out there so before anybody jumps on me this is all going to get filled back in with the lovely Stone

We’re not going to make a mess same here um but let’s get upstairs because I’ve got something I really need to do and if I don’t do it it’s really going to block everything um we’ve got so much work to do up there and I can’t do anything

Until I’ve done this job let’s go There we go I didn’t want to have to sand but I’m going to have to sand uh normally you don’t have to with this parket cuz it’s so uh smooth when it comes and it Clips together really well um it’s just we couldn’t keep it clean up here and then we’ve had

Dampness on the walls that kind of splattered down onto the parket as well made these kind of like little brown marks so I’m going to give it a quick sand and then we’re going to stain the ho of the floor and leave it dry for tomorrow once again I’m still looking

For my tool uh sponsorship I feel bad I mean have my gued something here but I didn’t get the right uh Hoover I did have a Hoover that connected to it I don’t know where it’s gone but I’ve my gathered something with the little Henry which means I can uh

Sand without having to wear a mask because there’s no particles coming up to my face um I’ve just given it a quick test it works really well so I’m just going to get on with It I’m actually shocked Anna I think you learn on every build you learn something new and I thought this parket was really well this floorboard sorry for anybody outside of France um yeah I thought it was really smooth already but actually after I’ve been over it with a two uh a 180 grit

Paper it’s really smooth and I mean really smooth so I’m really happy with that I still have a couple of hours to go I think though so I’ll get on you go grab us some lunch and uh we’ll be back yeah Ed you’ve stopped yes it’s not my day I forgot to say I got out of bed this morning stepped on the floor got a splinter then went downstairs lit the fire and uh smoke started coming out so I had to go on the roof and become a

Chimney sweep in damp weather which was very hard because it’s very dangerous now I thought it’d last a little bit longer I knew it was going to run out but I thought the battery would last a little bit longer it literally run out on me I got this area here done

You can possibly see with the Shimmer of yeah it’s looking really good up to about here so I’m kind of done that area there so no more battery no more juice no but I know that everyone is probably itching to see what we’re doing next with the park so I would normally do

This because we’re only a quarter a fifth through the job of sanding but I’m itching too to see what kind of well I kind of know the color that it comes out out with but I’ve gone for a parket kind of tinure so a coloring staining of par of shen D which

Is Golden Oak Golden Oak I know um yeah I’ve used it before so I know what it kind of looks like but it’s going to be the first time I use it and then cover it with osmo so yeah we’re going to put this on and then two coats of osmo after

This though I’m putting on for the first time with a roller oh and not with a mesh we used to do yeah we used to be on hands and knees and things just my back’s kind of you know feeling it a bit so I’m going to try with a roller this

Time apparently put it on with a roller and then any bits that you uh that you miss you have to just whip over with a cloth okay so I got my bundle of cloths and the roller which are microfiber too let’s hope it works with microfiber you’re prepared yeah now it’s saying

Here you need your glasses no you get like 12 M for every liter now we got five that’s 60 L we uh 60 M so we might have enough to do the whole lot with this one yeah but it’s BR this is brand new now this

Is a couple years old so I’m a little bit worried that it’s not quite the same and it’s not quite full so I’m going to start with the new one yeah and then if I run out of the new one then it’s just that last kind of a little bit over

There which is a bathroom M um so hopefully I’m expecting an older one to be slightly darker so if that is the case I can kind of figure out exactly where the bathroom is going and where the bathroom door is I can just do a nice neat line mhm sounds good sounds

Good yeah okay good Shake there helps if you shake your head at the same time right so just for a quick oh it looks dark no it’s not that the it wasn’t connected oh well don’t don’t use it then you just bought the product anyway so thing is once we’ve done this there’s

No going back I’m I’m so glad that I forgot to bring rubber gloves with me if I get any on my hands I’m going to look a bit orange this is a water-based product so again shouldn’t have to wear a mask I’m going to get over there if you’re going

To come close Anna you have to do what I’m doing I know I know but I won’t I’ll stay away only because I don’t want to get the floor dirty well otherwise you take your shoes off I’m a bit cold to be fair so I won’t be doing that right ready Ed oh

Yes straight away it’s drinking it no but you you worried about the color Yeah well yeah cuz it looked dark in that straight away I can see it’s that lovely color that we used to yeah it’s looking really good the weird thing is we’ve got this

Kind of uh where I put Parky on top of it mhm it’s got slightly different color I’m sure it’ll sort itself out with this and the osmo yeah but it’s nice to have I don’t know I like the patina yeah gives it character so the idea is that you don’t have areas

Where it’s got too much so I’m going to people probably say what are you doing going over it so much well just should hopefully get it nice and uh equal okay you know what else I’ve not bought well paint brush with me oh no so I don’t know maybe oh no they’re in

Vnf ones I just got okay so that’ll have to do in the corner I’ll just have to kind of patch that up after but let me get the whole lot done and see what you think of it Anna sounds good and you know where it was really

Demolition time I think you gave me a little paintbrush for my camera to clean I might still have it in the bag you might but I was going through the bag the other day and I don’t know whether I took it out but you go have a look I’m

Going to carry on and if you’ve got it then perfect okay I’ll go see you in a sec You’re in luck it I have it it’s a bit small but it will do the job okay let me finish off this uh rollering mhm actually no I need it now I need it from under that window now I’m bringing rubbish back across onto anyway oh no what I know what you’re up

To again actually I’m trying not to bring dirt up cuz I walked outside the weird thing is right it’s the first time I’m doing it after sanding yeah and it’s almost like it doesn’t want to go in as well stain normally goes in a lot better than this

It’s I’m going to whiz over it again maybe it’s a little too much I can’t see very well well we got no more light now think maybe wizo over it again take any excess off shine you come and shine your light if you want okay I think it’s looking really good think yeah

Yeah I think there’s a bit too much on that’s why it’s uh making little bubbles like [Applause] there we go right beautiful and it will dry out yeah it’ll dry a bit lighter uh would it been the first time I’m using this maybe going bit overboard on how much I put

On hence why I’m having to go over it quite a bit just to get out any of those heavy places where got a lot of uh stain on then again you have to get quite a lot on the roller for it to actually do anything so For Last Little for see I know I committed one of the cardinal sins of staining and that’s to stain a bit without staining all of it but it was to show you guys exactly what the stain looked like I’m sure I can figure things out after it’s no problem I also

Stepped on the stain at one point again not really meant to do that anyway I hope you enjoyed today’s Vlog if you have give us a thumbs up you can always put a little comment see what we’re doing right or what we’re doing wrong and uh don’t forget to subscribe see you

All next time see you Soon

  1. I love the golden oak stain nice and light and bright! Washroom it is then, don't want to be moving plumbing 'again' lol

  2. The door to the half bath would be fine to open outward into the lower foyer area as it would most often be closed anyway. If there is enough room to stand in the bathroom and turn around with the door open and fixtures in place opening In would be close. I know that you want to show us the floor color but do not stain it until the absolute end of the project. Cover it up for now. Your new stain will be damaged from all the other work being done. Color looks good though. Cheers 🥂

  3. Hi, It is wonderful how respectful you are to each other and how both of your opinions matter in this renovation . The floor looks amazing. Looking forward to the door and windows being done. Great job.

  4. In the US we typically use an applicator instead of a roller for floors. The roller entrains air causing tiny bubbles on the surface of the coating.

  5. If you think you might not have enough of the new bottle of stain, add a small bit of the old stain to every pan full so if it isn't exactly the same color, it will be much less different and even out over the whole floor.

  6. Oh my goodness your back with the floor sander😮 the floor stain will look gorgeous with the stone wall color!

  7. Maybe with sanding you kind of polished the surface and it’s not absorbing the stain as it could on the original flooring 🤔🤔 Ann 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿 just a thought.😊

  8. When I'm working with an unopened product and a slightly older, partially used product, I mix them together and proceed from there. 😊

  9. Maybe you are going to, but if not, could you or is it possible to leave the ceilings exposed to the very top and have a cathedral type ceiling?

  10. Should make a big double dutch door- were the top opens and the bottom opens. then a metal grate to allow light to fall through into the foyer. Then have a third pc were the upper floor meets the door. would be cool. The metal could even be a couple of feet like a bridge then have the railings around the opening. So possible a triple dutch door.

  11. Ambient temperature can affect the absorption rate of stain. I found this out when I stained our deck.

  12. The floor is beautiful! No other way around it. Nice color choices! Whoever gets to rent this place in the near future will freak! Another fun project by Ed and Anna. ❤

  13. I think the house will be really beautiful when it's all finished. The stone walls are wonderful and the stain on the flooring looks great. I love the colour. Well done Ed. Thanks also Anna for the wonderful job you do filming everything. You're both really clever.
