Louie Louie oh hello good morning what’s going on you’ve got it all out the park of course as every time you arrive at the end HH pretty smart HH it’s my speciality that not the morning guy morning well I think we have pretty much enough yeah I mean
Enough probably for one day there yeah to bring it to pasid I don’t want to bring more than that as well because it’s just going to get dirty isn’t it so yeah we don’t have enough space it’s better to work like this okay so this is
The park that I bought it’s a chestnut French call it chat sh sorry huh sh okay for Christmas what was it okay so uh this is actually the back side of course they don’t um they don’t actually um show the front side of they kind of protect it on the inside so when
We get laying it it’s going to be the other way up but it’s very similar to that it’s just very smooth it’s actually ready to go so what we’re going to do Louie is we’re going to lay it and then pretty much straight away we’re going to
Osmo it and get it covered so we can work on it and not worry about you know scratching it and everything okay all right enough chat let’s get the van loaded up and uh get going oh yeah I forgot you’ve already got it loaded up I’m here for that Okay Welcome back to bordo life everyone as you can see this week huge step forward on the build which is par is going down um absolutely brilliant Louie is taking it to the build now so when we get there I’m pretty sure the par is going to be
Up on the first ready to go I think we’re very lucky that we’ve got Louis helping us definitely Ed on that front yeah Lou’s a great help to us and we won’t actually have him that long uh unfortunately well it’s not that we don’t want him is it no no um
Somebody like Louie you know they always have Ambitions which is why he was he’s great for the build but in May he should be opening his hat shop in Bordeaux he’s going to give it a go and we’re trying to help him as much as possible um and
Uh of course employ him for the time that we can um so yeah he’s helping us now he’s going to open his shop in May and we’re going to have a quick look at his shop obviously um and we’re hoping that he makes a go of it of course if if
Things you know don’t go the way he plans we’ll be there to pick the pieces back up but uh I’m pretty sure he’ll do really well with this show he will here will okay so let’s get back to the build and uh and yeah get laying some Park sounds Good I’m going in Leroy Merin now to quickly get a foam that you put on the uh floor joist before you put the parket Down absolutely typical they don’t have the size I need in there so we’re going to nip to another lero melon and get to the build can’t very yes so yep I got it 120 M long hope that’s enough let’s get Going For Luigi okay Go don’t Undo It Luigi you the okay that we’re going to use in a minute so we’ve already prepared this area here we’ve got a distance of parket away from the wall at the minimum and then at the maximum it’s like maybe a centimeter more but that doesn’t matter
Because uh you won’t see it because the plinth will come down and cover that any gaps up it actually needs a gap between the park and the wall because um wooden floors actually moved so they kind of expand and contract if you don’t have that Gap and you push your par right up
To the walls everywhere the Parky in summer can just go like that so we’re ready to go uh unfortunately my uh nail gun isn’t working so we’ve had to um take some of the nails out to nail the first ones in and then we have a special
Nail machine as as such so enough chat I’m going to get this first line in and then we’ll go from there I’m not putting insallation on the first line but it doesn’t matter too much because it’s really hard to get your foot in under that first line um and I had to nail
This through and I didn’t want to make a mess of the insallation so we’ll take that up then we’ll put the insulation down so the fonic insulation we won’t hear any well you hear a lot less walking above uh from below okay okay okay so I know it’s more talking but I’ll
Explain everything this parquet stamped up that’s the length of the parket the 70 cm and it’s stamped on the backs side you know it’s the backside because it’s thin at the bottom thick at the top thick at the top is the bit that we’re using the bit that’s been really well
Milled and it’s nice and smooth and Louie I’ve just been telling to tell to keep giving me the parket in this format so with the male kind of bit there and along here so it’s this kind of angle here that has the tongs the male bit yes
Lou you’re not going to make a mistake okay uh I could do with the hammer and and some nails Oh Mercy Luigi up okay so I’m leaving a little Gap at this side and obviously quite a big back Gap at the back we’re all admiring the back viewed don’t worry disgusting Anna I’m not a piece of meat what you told me to from this angle So so I’ve got my rhythm now I’ve got my angle that I need to be I’ve got how I’m stable just just Louis that can cause me a problem now l speec in the work are you making silly faces behind me never Never don’t know how I manage it I don’t know how I manage it working with you and those are the invisible Nails right I don’t know what them all now Anna what the hell are they gone Not Invisible like a technique so you don’t see them invisible
Nails I know what you mean well you don’t see the blinking Nails you mean Secret Nails what secret invisible it’s it’s all the same thing I don’t know but Lou put your invisible glasses on and find me the invisible nails they’re over here somewhere I know thank God I got Lou here it’s
Lost in Translation oh it’s okay sorry everybody Engish yeah let we’ll speak French guys to know add no Anna I’ve lost that invisible nail again where’s it gone okay it’s a secret nail Goodness Me I did actually lose the Nail that’s if you don’t behave I know I’m gonna I’m going to check the edit because that’s why I’m not saying Anything Lou a perfectionist that he’s shaving the walls good boy now than God we don’t have to do it like this the whole way this is really tedious and hard got a few more to go and then we’ll be able to get these planks up get the uh mousse the foam down and get
Going cuz those planks they’re your what you call they’re a straight line these are my straight line okay well I I didn’t know what on Earth it was I thought how did they put one massive one and they’re doing tiny ones after check no Fore Hey what’s going on well I’m just triying to follow the progress guys I’m not so sure that’s what’s going on well this this is the only way I can film oh I’m on the ladder hey Lou we’re good aren’t we she almost fell off the ladders when she was looking okay Look at the agility there’s life in him yet okay Uh See if I cut Right Too Close does this fit it fits and I’ve only got a couple of millimeters at the bot in but considering I’ve got half a centimeter over there I think we should be good uh we got a bit of expansion at the back as well so we’re good okay That Fore Say Bye spee there you all were hoping to see some more of the park go down but the problem is it’s all about the preparation on the parket we had to get it straight we’ve had to get this insulation down we’ve got another load to get down but we have
To go pick the kids up as well don’t we so I’m going to leave Lou here we do Lou is going to finish off the insulation today hopefully and then we’re going to carry on next time with uh getting a little of parket down and we’ve got the uh time
Lapse as well haven’t we so yes we yeah we’ll show you a bit of the parket machine and then time lapse the rest and before you know it we’ll have this floor done I hope you enjoyed today’s Vlog if you did please give us a thumbs up subscribe if you’re not subscribed and
You know what to do ring that bell ring that Bell

Just curious because in Canada we put a subfloor down first which could be plywood or chip- ply and then nail the wood floor to that. This floor does not look safe to my mind. It creates a better ( imo) load bearing floor, gives more sound proofing and is a safer way for the installer. Is this the way French people do it always?
Wood flooring starts to acclimate to the room humidity. This can mean that it will shrink in thickness during dry periods. Squeeking then happens when you walk on it and your weight causes rhe shruken boards to move up and down on the nails. This is much less of a problem when the floor is nailed tight over felt paper that is thin and not easily compressible. If the underlay is able to compress, it will allow the floor to squeek.
My 1880s home near Boston, MA, USA, has no subflooring under original floors. All new floors have subflooring.
🏠🔨🏠🔨
I see Louie is a man with refined taste. I too like Jameson's.🥃🥃🥃🦘
I’ve only done this on top of a subfloor and with underlay in wide sheets. Maybe Canada building code would prevent workers from injury falling through the joists.
Reminds me of some of the really old homes I got to work on in the States. Can't wait to see it finished.
I'm really surprised you don't put sheets of OSB down as underflooring and lay the parquet on top of that.
At my parents 100+ yr old house the wooden floor was delivered a month in advance to acclimate to the surroundings. Not sure about a a subfloor or Moisture barrier. Older German man very picky about “his floor “.No problems 25 yrs later.
Sleep well😊
Louie is a great help for the build, but he is great for us too! The shop will do great for him. His hats and style are so handsome. Plus his personality will go a long way with his business. ❤
Beautiful work mate
Louis, trés beau! il doit être fier de son travail
I wish Louis all the best in his new venture, I will miss him in this show! He's been a great help for you 😃
I thought you were putting down a timber floor before you did the parquet 😃
Sad to lose Louie
❤
I think there will be a spring in this floor without underlay. If by leaving a space at the wall for the floor to expend and contract then nailing down the first course, ( and subsequent courses) how will the floor move laterally when it expands? You must know something others don’t know. Laminate floors “float” as they expand and contract but the boards are not nailed to the floor.
You are fortunate to have a dependable and charming worker in Louie. You know we all adore him. No sub-floor?
Invisible nails fixed with a silent hammer 😂
Boy that is different. Don't do it that way here in america.
Wondering why you never laid a sub floor before the hardwood. My husband built & or restored 4 homes & laid new subfloors. I know you are very knowledgeable I listened to you to see if you would tell us the rational, curious. Good luck to Louie.
Wait, so the planks are all the floor is made of? How can that be strong enough?
no sub floor ? Pls explain why thank you
Sorry to hear Louis is moving on, but I really hope and pray his hat business is a huge success. I am sure he will pop by now and then. You all have an amazing bond by now. Thanks for the chuckles. Invisible nails!😂
Normally when flooring I have left the material for at least 48 hrs in the environment before laying. Any comments ?
❤Louis congrats on opening your hat shop!!! I cant wait to see it! Edd and Anna how are you going to replace Louis?!😊 This project is going fast!❤
It will be very nice. I did 2 rooms at our château but in the Swedish way. First a wodden floor on the beams and then the parquet on it, then you have endless possibilities of different patterns to lay
Yes no plywood before you put down the flooring 😮
Can you explain why no subfloor? Looks like a few questions about that.
Louis will be missed so so much on here ❤ yes everyone needs a Louis in their lives….
I wish him the best of luck with his new adventure … I absolutely love his hats .. I follow him already on instagram 😊👍😁
I’m not stalking him I promise 🤣🤣🤣
Ps your flooring going to be amazing 🤩
The race is on to see who finishes first. Ed and Louie or Ryan and Nick. Blessings
Drivers side brake light not working. Hate for Louie toget a trafic fine.
I am also wondering about subfloors. This is dangerous work you can fall through, but still very interesting, love you lot
Surely nailing the first line down is the same as butting it RIGHT up to the wall. In the summer it will still expand and bow !
Ok now I hear parquet floor comes on top.
