You know this is back in the 70s a lot of  experimentation going on what do disco the   movie Taxi Driver and black forest cake have  in common they were all popular in that magical   decade that was the 1970s today we’re going to  focus on what people of the M decade were munching

On with these 18 classic foods that defined the  70s it’s legendary space food sticks oh I wish   I had these on my space adventure in the 1970s  most of the world was fascinated by everything   outer space after all the space race was still  ongoing Neil Armstrong had just walked on the

Moon in 1969 and NASA Moon missions and space  launches still had Millions tuning in to watch so   with space being so popular during the decade just  about every product on the Shelf was space themed   from the orange flavored astronaut drink Tang to  astronaut ice cream space food was everywhere in

The late 60s and into the 70s however none of  those Foods seem to capture the imagination of   space lovers more than space food sticks still  number one a clever little invention intended   initially for astronauts space food sticks were  created by the combined efforts of Pillsbury us

Aerospace and the military and seemed like the  food ripped right out of Science Fiction the food   sticks were nutrient dense food bars that came  in caramel chocolate and peanut butter flavors   and were basically a precursor to modernday power  and energy bars the small ccal food sticks were

Filled with all the carbs fats and protein that  the body needed for those long space missions   or for us terrestrials a nice quick lunch or  snack while their popularity began to disappear   as interest in space travel dyed down space food  sticks can still be found today on Amazon so feel

Free to take yourself back to the 70s with this  nostalgic snack I said are you ready to ride the   cheese ball and Cheese Log give your friends some  cheese balls what what’s better than cheese not

Much cheese also happens to be the key ingredient  in some of the most iconic Foods on the planet   cheeseburgers pizza and grilled cheese sandwiches  are simply plain hamburgers tomato bread and just   plain old bread without the cheese well in the  70s cheese was front and center in many popular

Dishes such as the cheese ball cheese balls were  perfect for parties snacks and get togethers and   were pretty easy to prepare see anyone can do it  comprised of cream cheese shredded cheese usually   cheddar green onion and some spices cheese  balls were served with crackers and spread

Onto the crackers or dipped before blowing the  clogs and bell bottoms off Anyone Who sampled   it of course we can’t forget the other cheesy 7s  dish the Cheese Log prepared pretty much in the   same way as the cheese ball cheese logs were made  with a cheddar and cream cheese core then covered

In a cream cheese and rolled in crushed nuts  much like the cheese ball the Cheese Log was   used usually spread on crackers they taste just  like regular crackers but they’re hot Pop Rocks   we’re out of Pop Rocks every decade has its  classic candy back in the 70s one of the more

Iconic candies to come out of that decade was Pop  Rocks popping onto store shelves back in 1976 Pop   Rocks were an interesting combination of flavor  and sensation all in one delicious candy pop   Rock’s most appealing feature was their ability  to explode or pop in your mouth as soon as the

Candy came into contact with salot the explosive  feature is due to carbon dioxide being present   within the candy rocks which is responsible for  the all important pop unfortunately for fans of   the popping candy pop Rock’s popularity eventually  began to simmer perhaps in part due to a certain

Urban myth involving the candy what was the myth  oh a little tale about combining pop rocks and   soda to create a fatal explosion in your stomach  while the M managed to scare its Fair shap share   of kids throughout the 70s there’s no evidence  or scientific proof to back it up we have nothing

Fondue three different cheeses melted what was  it with this particular decade and cheese it   seems like the 1970s along with being the decade  responsible for the bgs and Abba was also the era   of cheese however no list of cheese related 70s  Foods would be complete without fond deu dating

Back to 18th century Switzerland fondue managed  to catch fire in the 70s fondue was not simply   fun food it was almost a ritual all you needed  was a pot of melted cheese traditionally Swiss   a few skewers crusty bite-sized pieces of bread  and a few close friends and you’ve got yourself

A fondue party let’s party fondue made for a  perfect appetizer or party snack and was a huge   part of the 70s household get together cheese on  bread with friends is it any wonder why fondue is

A hit oh and cheese wasn’t the only type of fondue  making the rounds chocolate and even fondue which   involves dipping raw meat cubes and oil until  cooked were and continue to be versions that   have to be sampled to fully appreciate and we’ll  continue to do this together Hamburger Helper he’s

Leaking Hamburger Helper box or pre-prepared  meals have been around for decades meals such   as craft mac and cheese rice aroni and Sidekicks  help make dinner less of a chore by simply being   able to open a box add a few ingredients heat  and serve in the’ 70s apart from things like

TV dinners there was one boxed meal that is  undoubtedly more associated with the decade   than any other Hamburger Helper this kitchen  Lifesaver first showed up on the scene back   in 1971 the year’s 1971 similar to craft mac and  cheese Hamburger Helper came with a sorted pasta

And sauce powder the only ingredients you had to  add to the mix that didn’t come inside the box was   water and ground beef a aside from the original  spiral pasta variety Hamburger Helper also came in   other flavors like chili macaroni cheesy Italian  and beef taco to name a few the bright red box

With the animated White Glove mascot was on every  grocery store shelf in North America but nowadays   the popularity of Hamburger Helper isn’t what it  used to be it’s not what it seems there’s plenty   more 70s Classics to come but if it’s your first  time here then become an official Babble topper

By taking a quick second to hit that subscribe  button thanks now where were we oh yeah Jello-O   pudding pumps fuing loved pudding pops when  most of us think of frozen desserts or treats   we instantly think of ice cream or popsicles  however back in the 70s there was another Frozen

Treat that was just as popular as the classics  Jello-O pudding pops while these frozen dessert   treats didn’t really completely catch fire until  the 80s Jello-O pudding pops first burst onto the   scene back in the early 7s and were an instant  hit Jello pudding pops were frozen treats made

From the popular dessert I was a rock star by  the way one of the biggest selling points for   pudding pops was their unique ability to combine  the properties of a popsicle the creaminess of   ice cream and the smoothness of Jello-O pudding  all in one sweet treat another popular selling

Point for pudding pops was that they were lower  in sugar and overall calories than other frozen   desserts in the market such as ice cream pudding  pops proved popular with sweet treat lovers as   the Frozen treat racked in around $100 million in  sales in their first year however jell-o’s parent

Company general Foods discontinued pudding pops  as their popularity began to decline in the ’90s   it’s time to say it pie K the k for lunch eggs are  about as versatile of food as anything out there   they’re not only a key ingredient and most Foods  we love they’re also filled with nutrients which

Is why they’ve been dubbed a superfood however  eggs usually take a backseat to other ingredients   such as with a custard which is made with egg but  is outshone by the sweet and creamy goings on with

The dish this is not the case with kiche where the  egg is the star of the show and is on Full display   while the egg tart may not have been created in  the 1970s kiche was revived and popularized all

Throughout the decade we did it again the dish  became extremely versatile in the’ 70s with many   versions springing to life in this era however the  most iconic and traditional 7s kiche featured eggs   obviously bacon crumble and shredded cheese all  housed in a flaky pie crust the rich and savory

Pie was great for family dinners and also  made for great party food nowadays you’d be   hard pressed to find a person who doesn’t Place  kiche alongside disco balls and all the other   wonderful things that have come to symbolize  the’ 70s a symbol of our values and knowledge

Watergate salad how about Watergate cakes and  pies are undoubtedly among the most classic of   all the desserts however while perfectly fine on  their own both cake and pie are launched into the   stratosphere when accompanied by a creamy tag  team partner whipped cream most brands quickly

Realized how popular whipped cream was and made  sure to offer their own version of the dessert   topping with one of the most famous being coolwhip  first bursting onto the scene in the late 60s Cool   Whip quickly became the secret ingred ingredient  in many cherished 7s dishes with the most famous

Being Watergate salad I’m the star of the show  this salad was a delicious collection of sweet   ingredients that made for a decadent dessert  made of pistachio pudding marshmallows canned   pineapple and of course Cool Whip Watergate salad  instantly became a beloved and defining classic

Dessert of the decade the dessert was originally  named pistachio Delight however after the infamous   Watergate scandal per at the public Consciousness  the salad was renamed perhaps in an attempt to   capitalize on the popularity of the political  Scandal there is no such thing as bad publicity

Deviled eggs hey fellas deviled egg anyone eggs  have an interesting history to say the least eggs   have gone from being considered good for you  to the cholesterol packing food Pariah of the   80s and then back again to being a superfood today  eggs are enjoyed by many around the world however

For anyone who lived during the 70s eggs were far  more prominent in everyday cooking and the result   was some interesting dishes You Don’t See Much  of anymore like deviled eggs deviled eggs which   also go by the name of eggs Mimosa or dressed eggs  among others was an egg dish that most households

In the 70s were very familiar with mom used to  make it for me usually served up at parties large   Gatherings and backyard cookouts devil eggs were  an ideal bite-size snack and appetizer deviled   eggs were first boiled unshelled and sliced into  two halves however the best part was the filling

Which consisted of egg yolk blended with mayo  mustard and spices and placed back in the boiled   egg white eventually deviled eggs slowly started  to vanish from the appetizer platter and never   reached the level of popularity they saw in the  70s we love everything TV dinners TV dinners are

Cool she get the TV to go with them and then  1970s convenience was starting to be the name   of the game and TV dinners were the rock stars  of hassle-free dining these prepackaged Frozen   wonders were like culinary superheroes swooping  in to save the day for busy families and folks

Who were more into Leisure than spending hours in  the kitchen I mean who could resist the Allure of   a neatly divided tray holding a little bit of  everything Salsbury steak mashed potatoes corn   all packed into their own cozy compartments just  waiting to be heated up for a dinner date with

Your TV it was like a mini feast that required  nothing more than an oven and the variety well   there were options for every taste and dietary  preference whether you had a hankering for fried   chicken spaghetti or the classic turkey and  stuffing the freezer Isle had you covered we

Got you it was like having a personal chef on  standby ready to whip up whatever comfort food   you were in the mood for but the real MVP of the  TV dinner those dessert sections apple pie cherry

Cobbler or a brownie because a meal wasn’t truly  complete without a sweet treat to cap it off TV   dinners were in just about the food they were a  whole experience you could kick back tray on your   lap and dig into that perfectly portioned dinner  in front of the tube while catching the latest

Episode of your favorite sitcom sure Gourmet  chefs might scoff but in the 1970s TV dinners   weren’t just a meal they were a symbol of modern  living so here’s to the TV dinner that unsung hero   of laidback noons dining of The Groovy 70s H my  groove crepe Suzette the crepe Suzette this French

Dessert was a big part of’ 70s dining this French  delicacy not only satisfied the sweet Cravings of   the era but also became a symbol of decadence and  Indulgence at the heart of this indulgent dessert   were the etheral crates paper thin yet substantial  enough to cradle a symphony of flavors the PA the

Resistance however was the Luscious caramel butter  sauce infused with a tantalizing combination of   freshly squeezed Citrus juice and the aromatic  essence of lemon zest to elevate the complexity   of flavors various lurs were Incorporated  including cissel the citrusy triple and the

Rich orange infused Grand Marnier orange orange  grape what set crpe susette apart from ordinary   desserts was not just its delectable combination  of ingredients but but also the unforgettable   dining experience that went with it the grand  finale unfolded with a dramatic flourish setting

The dessert on fire this spectacle if enjoyed  in a restaurant would typically be orchestrated   tableside turning the act of dessert preparation  into a captivating performance the transformative   Journey from raw ingredients to a flaming work  of culinary art was a sensory experience that

Captivated diners and made crepe Suzette not just  a dessert but a spectac to remember it was a once   in a-lifetime thing anything Hawaiian I need  Hawaiian extra Hawaiian throughout the late   60s and70s the us became fascinated by Cuisine  originating from the Aloha State the Allure of

Hawaiian flavors characterized by a unique Fusion  of tropical ingredients and traditional Pacific   island culinary techniques found its way into  homes and restaurants making pineapple infused   dishes and other Hawaiian inspired Delights  a big part of the 7 dining experience the

Popularity of Hawaiian Cuisine during this era  was not confined to just one dish it extended   to a myriad of Creations that embrace the  vibrant and diverse flavors of the Hawaiian   Islands Hawaiian pizza with its unconventional  combination of ham pineapple and cheese became

A sensation challenging the traditional Notions  of what constituted a pizza topping although the   Hawaiian pizza was actually invented in Canada  what a Twist this new Found Love for the sweet   and tangy profile of pineapple transcended pizza  and found its way onto other beloved dishes such

As pineapple chicken creating a culinary Synergy  that epitomized the 1970s obsession with all   things Hawaiian restaurants and dinner tables  alike became adorned with the tropical charm of   Hawaiian Cuisine notably the trend wasn’t limited  to Pineapple Centric Creations alone poke a dish

Originating from Hawaii featuring raw fish seaweed  and an assortment of flavorful condiments also   gained immense popularity in the 1970s despite its  lack of pineapple Pokey exemplified the broader   fascination with Hawaiian flavors introducing  Americans to the delicate and fresh Taste of

Raw fish in a man that was both sophisticated  and approachable in the 1970s the influence of   Hawaiian Cuisine not only tantalized taste buds  but also paved the way for a broader appreciation   of diverse and EXO culinary traditions and that’s  exotic Egg McMuffin how about a sausage McMuffin

With hash all right let’s talk about a true Game  Changer from the 1970s McDonald’s Egg McMuffin so   it’s the dawn of the Disco era and suddenly  breakfast is about to get a serious upgrade   before the Egg McMuffins strutted onto the scene  breakfast was pretty much a sitdown affair but

Then McDonald’s decided to flip the script they  introduced this magical concoction a breakfast   sandwich with a perfectly round egg Canadian bacon  and a slice of melty American cheese all cozied up   in a warm toasted English muffin Abracadabra  the Egg McMuffin was born now what made this

Breakfast sandwich a sensation well first off it  was portable no more needing a knife and fork to   dive into your morning meal the Egg McMuffin  was the breakfast you could take on the go a   revelation for folks in a rush or those who just  couldn’t be bothered with a full sitdown breakfast

I just don’t have the time four ingredients  that harmonized into morning magic the egg   was a breakfast favorite the Canadian bacon  added a Savory kick the cheese was the melty   glue holding it all together and the English  muffin toasty Perfection but here’s the real

Kicker McDonald’s introduced the Egg McMuffin  in 1972 and it was like they cracked the Cod   to the hearts and stomachs of breakfast lovers  everywhere suddenly stopping by the drive-thru   for a quick Egg McMuffin before work became a  morning ritual it wasn’t just a sandwich it was

A breakfast Revolution the Egg McMuffin was so  much more than just a menu item it was a symbol   of The Changing Times where breakfast became as  fastpaced as the Disco beats playing on the radio   and to this day the Egg McMuffin holds a special  place in the hearts of breakfast enthusiasts all

Over the planet we just love it any and every  casserole dish potato casserole a dish fit for   Kings let’s open the ovens of The Groovy 1970s  where casseroles were like the unsung heroes of   dinner time if there was a culinary MVP of that  era it had to be the casserole dish families

Across America would gather around dinner tables  with excitement because you guessed it there was a   casserole in the oven the beauty of casseroles in  the’ 70s was that they were easy to put together   a mish mash of ingredients baked in a single  dish now there were Classics that everyone

Knew and loved tunea casserole with crispy fried  onions on top iconic green bean casserole making   its way to Thanksgiving tables everywhere  a holiday Superstar and let’s not forget   the Kingpin of comfort food chicken and rice  casserole but here’s where it gets interesting

The variations were endless casseroles were like  a blank canvas of The Culinary world it’s about   the art you had your xmex inspired casseroles  with layers of tortillas cheese and chili or   how about a breakfast casserole throwing in egg  sausage and hash browns for good measure and

Let’s not get started on the jello salads okay  not exactly a casserole but it was another 7s   phenomenon that couldn’t be ignored layers of  fruity jiggly goodness that somehow made their   way to the dinner table alongside the casseroles  the Brilliance of the casserole was that it was a

On Dish Wonder minimal prep throw everything  together pop it in the oven and voila dinner   was served it was the epitome of convenience  which let’s face it was a big deal in the 70s   when life was moving at a slightly more leisurely  pace which was lazy and misleading I think shrimp

Cocktail oh look shrimp cocktail let’s get some  all right let’s talk about a classic that swam   into the Limelight during the 70s shrimp cocktail  it was like the fanciest appetizer in town and   if you were throwing a party back then you bet  your disco ball that shrimp cocktail was making

An appearance those plump pink Beauties hanging  out on the edge of a glass surrounded by a sea   of Tangy cocktail sauce now what made shrimp  cocktail the rock star of appetizers first off   it was a symbol of sophistication it wasn’t just  shrimp it was shrimp on a pedestal literally the

Presentation was everything perched on the rim  of a glass like they were about to dive into a   pool pool of cocktail sauce classy right I’m  diving and let’s talk about that sauce Tangy   a bit spicy with a hint of horseradish it was  the perfect partner in crime for those succulent

Shrimp you dip take a bite and suddenly you were  transported to a culinary Paradise where shrimp   and cocktail sauce rain Supreme shrimp cocktail  was also versatile it could be the star appetizer   or sheare the spotlight on a seafood platter and  let’s not forget the party trick the way it was

Often served with dry ice to create that dramatic  Smoky effect talk about turning appetizers into   a show whether you were at a fancy Suare a family  gathering or just treating yourself to a little 7s   Indulgence shrimp cocktail was the go-to It’s My  Thing Reese’s Pieces I don’t want Reese’s Pieces

In my popcorn Reese’s peanut butter cups are  iconic the chocolate peanut butter snack has   been around for almost a hundred years and  is the top sell selling candy brand in the   world so basically Reese seems to know a thing or  two about Sweet Treats however the brand wasn’t

Satisfied with simply offering its customers the  classic peanut butter cups and decided to expand   its line of Candy by introducing ree’s pieces in  1978 featuring the same sweet peanut butter used   in their peanut butter cups Reese’s Pieces are  crunchy peanut butter candy Buttons that come

In various colors anything you want here we got  it the crunchy candies owe their existence to a   sugar coating process developed by the Hershey  Corporation Called panning and for that fans   are eternally grateful one of the key factors  Teresa’s pieces skyrocketing and popularity as

Quickly as they did was due to the candy being  featured in the Steven Spielberg hit ET though   the film debuted in 1982 but the crunchy peanut  butter candy is as popular today as it was when

It debuted but undoubtedly was one of the Staples  of a 70s childhood I want to be a kid again black   forest cake like Forest too scary all right it’s  1973 and you’re at a dinner party at a house with

Wood panel walls and shag Carpeting and suddenly  the dessert appears black forest cake it was like   a chocolate and Cherry Masterpiece that took the  cake literally in the ’70s dessert game now what   made black forest cake so popular in the70s first  off it was all about the layers moist chocolate

Cake layered with sweet whipped cream and studded  with Juicy cherries repeat that Heavenly Trio and   you’ve got a cake that’s as visually stunning as  it is delicious it’s perfect and as an added bonus   the dark chocolate shavings on top they weren’t  just a garnish they were the touch of decadence

Black forest cake wasn’t just a dessert it was a  celebration birthdays holidays or just a Friday   night get together any occasion was the perfect  excuse for a slice of this chocolate cherry   Delight it brought people to together one fork  full at a time so here’s to the black forest cake

Of the 70s a Timeless classic that brought joy  to dessert lovers and added a touch of sweetness   to an Era known for its funky style M funky seven  layer salad six cups of mayonnaise that can’t be   right for whatever reason the’ 70s were all about  radical takes on salad and Among The Eccentric

Offerings of the time the seven layer salad  emerged as a distinctive and Hearty addition   to dinner tables far surpassing the traditional  concept of a salad this culinary Marvel was more   of a meal in itself the homark of the seven  layer salad was its namesake seven layers of

Diverse ingredients carefully arranged to create  a visually appealing and delicious dish unlike the   standard lettuce and tomato salads that dominated  dining habits the seven layer salad embraced a   symphony of textures and flavors the foundation of  this culinary Masterpiece was laid with an array

Of fresh vegetables allowing for personalization  based on individual preferences crisp lettuce   leaves provided a refreshing Base complemented by  a medley of colorful vegetables such as tomatoes   cucumbers bell peppers and more the layers  didn’t stop there as the salad ventured into

Heartier territory with the addition of cheese  kids love cheese elevating the protein profile   of the seven layer salad were the inclusion  of boiled eggs providing a satisfying element   but the extravagance didn’t end there the piesta  resistance came in the form of bacon bits infusing

The salad with a smoky and indulgent flavor that  was quintessentially 1970s the dressing A crucial   component of any salad was left to the whims  of the Creator whether it was a creamy ranch   a Tangy vinegret or a classic mayonnaise based  dressing the choice was entirely personal this

Flexibility added to the charm of the seven layer  salad making it adaptable to different tastes and   preferences as time has marched on the seven layer  salad remains a nostalgic relic of the 1970s a   testament to the era’s willingness to break free  from culinary norms and embrace the unexpected in

  3. I have so much faves on this list made from the 70's that made up my childhood from the 80's and 90's, pop rocks, Reese pieces, tv dinners, and of course black forest cakes. I am glad the myth of combining pop rocks and coca cola that makes your stomach explode is not true

  4. Space Food Sticks came out in the 60s. You can make homemade pudding pops, if you have popcicle molds. TV Dinners came out in the 50s. The sixties, thanks to Julia Child. Casseroles were a fifties thing. If I make it, it will be a six layer salad, as I would leave out the peas

  5. I really liked those food sticks! I also
loved Pop Rocks, so much fun! But I
basically grew up on TV dinners, the
Swanson brand was my top favorite!

  6. As a young child during the 70's I loved many of these items. Space Food Sticks were one of my favorites. TV dinners were actually a treat as my Mom would usually cook everyday. The allure of the TV dinner to me was I felt I was camping for some reason. Today I make my own TV dinners for my family. I have some plastic trays with dividers, but fill it with homemade food items. This is the time when the kids and the whole family sit together and watch TV on TV trays. We limit TV time, so they love it, we get to spend time together and since we normally eat at the table, being able to eat in front of the TV is a special treat to them. I like it too.

  7. This video makes me hungry for Hamburger Helper and Tuna Helper. Do yall have a ranking on those? This would be a banger video.

  8. I got an Idea!
