Ingredients:
2 tablespoons unsalted butter
2 large shallots, finely chopped
2 slices of bread, crusts removed and cubed
1 cup heavy cream
Salt and black pepper, to taste
1 tablespoon chopped fresh parsley or thyme
Instructions:
1. Melt the butter in a medium saucepan over medium heat.
2. Add the shallots to the pan and sauté until they are soft and translucent, about 5 minutes.
3. Add the bread cubes to the pan and continue to sauté for another 5 minutes, or until the bread is golden
brown and crispy.
4. Pour the heavy cream into the pan and bring the mixture to a simmer. Cook, stirring occasionally, for
about 5 minutes, or until the sauce has thickened and the bread has soaked up the cream.
5. Season the sauce with salt and pepper to taste.
6. Remove the pan from the heat and stir in the chopped parsley or thyme.
7. Transfer the sauce to a blender or food processor and blend until it is smooth and creamy.
Alternatively, use an immersion blender directly in the saucepan.
8. Return the sauce to the pan and reheat over low heat until it is warm.
