I show you an absolute English classic dessert that is astonishingly delicious.

Ingredients Metric/Cups

150g dates, stoned and chopped – 2/3rd of a cup.
150ml of boiling water/ 1/2 cup + 2 tablespoons.
120g soft brown sugar 2/3 cup
90g butter – 3/4 cup
2 eggs
1 tbsp vanilla
1 tbsp dark treacle – also known as molasses
190g SR flour or GF SR flour or 1 1/2 cups of all purpose flour and 1 teaspoon of baking powder
120 ml milk or cream 1/2 cup

Follow the instructions in the video. Bake at 170C/320F for 30 – 40 minutes.

For the toffee sauce

175g soft brown sugar – 3/4 cup
60g butter – 1/2 cup
240 ml double cream, or creme entiere or heavy cream 1 cup.
1 tbsp dark treacle.
