Join us on Bella’s Hope For Healing. Bella will be interviewing Chef Oliver Hale and Deborah Ismer.
Oliver Hale – Oliver Hale, who is a kidney transplant recipient and a French gourmet chef, volunteers with UNOS because it gives him an opportunity to share his story of how organ donation saved his life. “I can also share about my life story as a successful chef and everything that my life has been like for the past 35 years,” he said about the years he has been able to enjoy since receiving a transplant. “All I can say is, organ donation works.”
Deborah Ismer – Not only is February 14 Valentine’s Day — it’s also National Organ Donor Day.
Both holidays and the love that characterizes them come together in the story of Bill and Debbie Ismer of Plant City.
Twenty years ago, Bill was at Tampa General Hospital in need of a heart transplant. He spent a year there waiting for a donor.
That year was well spent in the sense that he and his nurse fell in love. He received his new heart, then two months later asked for her hand.
