There were originally 17 Fifth Growth wines in the 1855 Classification system but Batailley has split into 2 wineries so now there are 18 Fifth Growth wines. Part 1 will cover the first 9 wineries They are (in order of listing in 1855, based on price per barrel):
Château Pontet-Canet – (Pauillac)
Château Batailley – (Pauillac)
Château Haut-Batailley – (Pauillac)
Château Grand-Puy-Lacoste – (Pauillac)
Château Grand-Puy-Ducasse – (Pauillac)
Château Lynch-Bages – (Pauillac)
Château Lynch-Moussas – (Pauillac)
Château Dauzac – (Margaux)
Château d’Armailhac – (Pauillac)
Couple of apologies: 1/ still got “Puy” wrong…it should be pronounced “Pwee”. Also, I mentioned Clerc Milon…I keep saying “Million”…not sure why I am doing this but just something I have to change. I also got the order of the Batailley/Grand Puy wines wrong. When I merge the sections, put them in the wrong order.
Anyways, would be interested in what others think.
